What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

TP,
#100 is ready! PnP. Trust me and try one soon. :grinning::wine_glass:

Your ‘Lot 307 Napa Carneros 2019 Pinot Noir tonight with grilled salmon’ dinner came the same day as our Lot 101 Walla Walla 2018 Cabernet Franc with wild caught sautéed salmon. L 101 Cab Franc has a near perfect varietal correct stance now. Deep dark color, surprisingly medium bodied, displaced oak tannins with delightfully muted red fruit flavors. At least a 92 pt wine for this $9 QPR bottle-of-tasting pleasure. Bottled Nov 16, 2020 and ready for enjoyment.

I tried both Eleveur chards (Ritchie and Ellen Lane) and was disappointed. I highly doubt these will get better with age. MEH!

OG N.61 2018 Dry Creek Zinfandel

Last bottle, PnP. Pulled this outta the Library to make room for more age worthy wines (#57).
It’s ready to guzzle up. No sense to cellar any longer. Nice and clean and enjoyable. $108/case, that is nice.
with Portabello Mushroom burgers (where’s the beef?)

Yeah, this is another reason I’m out of the game no matter how enticing the write-up/discount. One dud like this and the cost on the good qpr goes up to where you can get a known entity. Plus the quality over quantity thing.

I like the Ellen Lane and haven’t tried the Ritchie, but CT reviews are mostly positive.

I’m curious what Chardonnay’s you find to your liking?

It will be interesting for sure! When I did my blind tasting with friends, My dN came in #2 overall, second only to a Pott Incubo.

I will let @Otto_Forsberg show up with the notes…

OG 241 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Man this fricken rocked. Ribeye steak and f**k yeah!

From CT note;

Gorgeous nose of tobacco leaf, blackberries and vanilla. The oak is really well balanced with the fruit, and this comes across as a very classic Bdx blend rather than a CA Cabernet, although there is not enough vegetal/earth in this to identify it as old world. No, this is just a fricken rockin’ old school CA cab, the kind I loved back in the early 90s, only better made now. Ridiculous value at dN prices. Loved it. Maybe some upside potential but why bother? It kills now.
Score: 93-94. 93 for objective complexity and 94 (conservative score) for pure enjoyment.
Relative to expectations: +++.

N.42 2018 cab blend. Man I really like this offering. Its 15%, but does not come across too big. For sure a “steakhouse style” St helena cab blend. Rumored to be Boeshen. 92-93points. I could drink this a few nights a week and be happy.

Anyone else have these? Like to hear others thoughts. 2 bottles of the case left…

Sure, if you want to keep people hanging for another 9 months :sweat_smile:

Anyways, in short: a de Negoce beat a Napa Cab worth more than x50 in $ with a 7:1 vote in a blind tasting (and that 1 person said, to his defense, that he preferred the other wine by 51% compared to the 49% of the other wine)!

Thanks for posting Otto. I would really be interested in seeing your tasting notes if you post them.

I will post them in due time, but unless I publish them ahead of the schedule, it will take some time (I’m currently tackling with notes from December 2013!).

then yes, ahead of schedule.

With all of this talk of big lots such as 499 and 500, and the start of the NFL season, I decided to open up an equally big lot, lot 401. Man, I love this wine. It’s fantastic after one hour of air and I expect it to be spectacular tomorrow night.
