Thanks…have you tried it yet?
Nope, I was hoping someone else had. But given Cam’s recent assessment I might have to take one for the team this weekend ![]()
(If this isn’t lot 100 it’s not my fault for saying it was).
Chris!
Must be a nice Merlot? I’ll take two cases, please. Cheers! ![]()

I found the blurb for Lot #100!
The Wine We Are Absolutely, Positively Not Allowed to Tell You About
Every once in a while, the stars align.
A château with a single-word name. A vineyard so small you could almost mow it before lunch. A blue clay hill that has inspired more obsessive tasting notes than perhaps any other patch of dirt on Earth.
Lawyers have advised me to stop there.
Let’s just say if you were to open an atlas of Pomerol and place your finger on the most famous address in the appellation, you wouldn’t be far off. In fact, you might be standing directly on top of it. Hypothetically.
As always, I can’t tell you the producer. I also can’t tell you why the fermentation room has exactly the same layout you’ve seen in coffee-table books. Coincidence is a wonderful thing.
What I can tell you is this:
- 100% Merlot.
- Microscopic production.
- Blue clay that has launched a thousand auction records.
- Released every year to collectors who don’t ask the price—they ask how many cases they can have.
If you’ve ever wondered why certain bottles require a second mortgage while others simply require a firstborn child, this is your chance to experience the style without the therapy bills.
Officially, this isn’t that wine.
Unofficially… if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, grows on blue clay like a duck, and tastes suspiciously like liquid velvet wrapped around black truffle and plum, well… I’m not saying it’s the duck.
I’m just suggesting you bring a decanter large enough for your imagination.
Drink now if you’re impatient. Hide it for 30 years if you’re wise. Tell your friends it came from “a little producer in Pomerol” if you’re insufferable.
Lot 13 Meritage just went into the decanter in honor of the sale. Will report back.
I just put lot 25 og in the decanter…
Finished my case of lot 20 - great value pinot and much better than lot 35. I’ve also been enjoying lot 32 recently - I found it to be pretty thin and underwhelming last year but that extra time in the bottle has really transformed it
Let us know how it is drinking!……
Not gonna share my lot 13 review tonight. Drinking glass 1.5 now and will save the rest for tomorrow. Tooooo young, I hope. Will share my thoughts tomorrow after that 24 hour decant!
Honestly was a little disappointed and it probably needs more time (I do remember liking it more in the winter though). To me lot 32 is showing much better currently.
Initially very smooth with a lot of dark fruits. On the finish, the tannins become very pronounced with the heat from the 15% abv really coming through. Honestly felt like the abv was even higher
2023 Cam X Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District Lot 32 ![]()
Nearly a year bottled, First of 48, one hour afternoon decant.(recommended).
When this was released I thought it was a typo? This AVA for $199/delivered?
The last SLD CS I remember from Cam was: dN Lot 216 2018 Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon @ $300/6 pack, sweet deflation??
So I wanted a large dose in hopes that I would enjoy it.
The verdict, double Yummy Victory!
First whiff was delightful red fruited licorice, which almost immediately melted into the delicious medley of dark fruits and friggin’ fine DUST! Wonderful balance, plenty of flavor, not overbearing, just calling out to be enjoyed! I like the long dusty finish, very evident to me. Maybe they threw a big bag of Rutherford soil into the fermenter??? HA!
This yummy wine will be fun to follow over the next several years. This is amazingly approachable already, decant recommended.
The only problem with X32, it’s too easy to guzzle….

with grilled Game Hen
Completely agree - lot 32 is amazing right now. Just had a lot 27 and it’s also drinking really well right now
27 improves with air.
32 is pretty much good to go with PnP.
Great wines, and for $20 ![]()

Lucky guy .. lot 27 is my favorite
Lot 13: opened this bottle last night. Gave it 2 hours in the decanter before trying. Initial impression was not good, not good as in purple nail polish remover and high alcohol. Barely drinkable. Corked it up and put it in the fridge overnight.
Night 2, much better, but still very young, primary and tightly coiled. Not a wine I am buying more of, but drinkable. Cherry initially, but now I’m getting some jolly rancher and cinnamon. Just too red fruited for my preference (love me some dark fruit). Also, heavy oak so tannins and vanilla are present.
I’m not going to touch this for 2 more years. One great thing was the color, it a almost electric purple!
I noticed how Cam did not mention lot 13 is tasting notes the past two days!
I found day three and four of lot 13 it had much improvement. All the nastinesss was gone. Not touching my Next bottle until 2027
Had my first lot 32 this week, was very enjoyable.
Here are my notes
I opened lot 32 with the intent of the decanting for a little bit maybe 20 or 30 minutes putting it back in the bottle so I double decant to drink it tomorrow.
On the nose, it has a very pleasant bouquet I get light fruit some dark first taste a little bit of fruit present, medium medium, high acidity, and definitely tannins are present between the acidity and the tannins a little bit of a pucker at the end still very pleasant. good finish lots of potential look forward to drinking more of this. My best guess is this is a 92+ point.
Day 2 it maintained and slightly improved , better integration., better balance.
For PnP, this is one of my favorite CAMX right now
Sooooooo
I was gifted a nice selection of early CamX wines and have already opened a few. Decided to open Lot 1 tonight:
First off, it’s interesting that the Diam 5 did not have an X on top like all of the other bottles I received . . .
Also interesting to see a Diam 5 on these - one might surmise that these are not meant to be laid down for a long time based on this? Just an observation.
The first pour is dark - very dark. The first notes I get are blue and black fruits and oak - and a touch of alcohol . . . Though this is labeled as 14.0.
I like the acid level in this wine - it keeps it nice and fresh. Tannins are present, but to me on the light side.
Overall it’s a nice drinking wine - and I’d be happy if I had a few bottles of this in my cellar. I have no idea what the ‘value proposition’ is with this wine, but at the same wine retailed for a lot more than $50, I’d be surprised.
Cheers don’t know
It’s a very good $10 wine. I’ve made so much stew and sauce with it.
