What CAM X wine are you drinking tonight?

Nope. I just enjoy/guzzle a Lot. At 30 cases/year, that’s actually less than 3 years supply….:man_shrugging:
Mainly, I realize the quality/value proposition that you offer. Additionally, the current market conditions and quality 2023/4 vintages make these opportunities VERY compelling!
Over the many years you have definitely earned and gained my trust and respect. Very Well deserved! :folded_hands:

What did you think of Lot 27?

Are you PnP 34 or doing any decanting? This recent talk drove me into the cellar to find a bottle of 34 (and grabbed a 32 as well, why not?!?!).

It was definitely better after decant. But then again, I tend to decant everything that is somewhat young, take a taste, and decide how long it stays in the decanter or if it goes right back into the bottle via funnel. I also will say I like tannin and I like bold. So take that as a comparison when you try yours.

Oh Great! Do tell? I’m getting impatient waiting for 1 year bottled to try my first one.
Yes, I know it’s inevitable soon, and getting closer…..:man_shrugging:

2023 Cam X Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 01
Generally I choose to wait for a year bottled, before I guzzle my first bottle of a new red.
The exception is to sample one early so as to acquire additional while still available…
One year is quickly coming for the early X’s! :tada:
1/24, PnP. This wine was very nice ($99/case), on day one. Somewhat yummy with dark/red plum fruits.

The BIGGEST surprise was on DAY 2!
Sheesh, I was flabbergasted! Left ~4 ounces unpreservered, unfrigerated, in a warm house. So much better :wine_glass::wine_glass::face_savoring_food:
This will develop beautifully with age!

Lot 27 I originally did a 10 hour decant overnight, funneled back into the bottle, took an early morning hike then read the updated comments from other posters (thank you) after Cam chimed in and mentioned a good 24 hour. I splashed it back into the decanter for another three or four hours, and chilled in the refrigerator an hour before I went to lunch so basically a double decant.

This wine is built to last and I don’t think I would open up another for a couple of years. I have wine in storage in Manhattan Beach and in Palm Desert, while I’m not a VIP member I’ve been following Cam and clearly I have over 20 cases of Cam X and similar in DN.

Im not a frequent poster whom reads a lot of the tasting notes so I appreciate what the community does and I wanted to give back here.

The decant softened the wine so it seemed somewhat approachable. The alcohol level was still a little hot. This wine still needs time to integrate so the apparent fruit profile can come out. My Napa centric lunch companions I can see enjoyed the potential, however they weren’t readily saying thanks for bringing. They are clearly bringing the 2018‘s et al around.

The wine is clearly beautifully made with a high pedigree and my commentary is only Based on the tasting notes at that lunch. So it’s a little hot, a little muted, while missing the softer tannins, sweet fruit and viscosity that is clearly waiting to come out as it matures. I clearly can see its potential and will definitely come around in a few years. I think the drinking window should open starting in 2028 so patience is needed here. I appreciate and thank all whom assisted with their commentary and appreciate your insight as well.

2023 Cam X Pinot Noir Lot 08
1 year bottled, 1/12, PnP. Followed over 3 nights.
Bright, fresh, spicy & very clean. This has a nice palate cleansing acidity, courtesy of cool Carneros.
A bit of the delightful Pinotberry aroma. All in all, a nice yummy PN at a fantastic price!
Nights 2 & 3, zero oxidation or deterioration. Should be good for another 2+ years.

2023 Cam X Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 3
First of 42! ~1 year bottled(finally), 24 hour decant. Followed over 3 nights.
Happy and excited to try one of these. This is a solid and very yummy Napa CS. Reminiscent of the olden days (early 1980’s), when I would occasionally splurge $12-$15 to get a solid Bernard Portet crafted Napa CS, it was always consistent and solid enjoyment!
This has all it takes to age into an excellent wine, but, it’s gonna need More Time to show its stuff. Patience will be well rewarded here. Another 2 years before I start in earnest to draw down this inventory. I’ll try it occasionally in the meantime, with a big decant.
Oh yeah, $169/ case-T1, actually incredible!! :grinning_face: :man_shrugging::four_leaf_clover:
with Prime NY steak thank you Costco :face_savoring_food:
Nights 2 & 3, must have an antioxidant? LOL :joy: this will age better than most people will?

My final blend impression prior to bottling was that that wine would be one of the more “early” approachable wines but it clammed up pretty good. Haven’t tasted it in months but glad to hear its coming around.

Cam,
X3. This (as you know) is a very fine wine, that will greatly benefit with some more time. Thanks!

Anyone with recent experience with the X.6 on “blowout” today? If so, Is it a lighter profile or fuller bodied rose?

I’d say it straddles the fence nicely, it’s not heavy, quite refreshing. I’m in for a second case, we’re almost through our first. Great patio pounder.

Agree. Nicely balanced. Probably going back for another case.

Agree with the comments about balance on Lot 06. It’s a great Rosé! It has a touch of sophistication and minerality to it which I really like. For $99 (same as the case price on WineVIP… remember that!?) it’s 100% worth it. Agree that this could be enjoyed at least through next year.
