What CAM X wine are you drinking tonight?

you’re probably right. It evolved over the night and the next day

Interesting perspective.
Anyone out there with more experience than I have?
I am thinking 5 or 6 years for Cam’s cabs. Obviously they will vary.
Thoughts?

Brett,
The 2018 de Negoce Cabs are drinking great now with many being 5-6 years IN BOTTLE. 19’s weren’t as structured as 18’s. Cameron has used the same comparison for '23 & '24.

Hope that helps. Cheers, Tim

I don’t think '23 will take as long to come around as '13 or '97 (I don’t have any more '97, but three years ago they were going strong). So I’d agree with Tim. Give the '23’s 4-5 more years if you can and drink your 22’s soon and your 24’s in a couple of years. All of this is with the huge caveat that I don’t like young cabs. Lots of people do.

Many thanks for your experienced and detailed response. Plenty of nuance too!

agreed…2013’s had monster structures…black holes for years. 2023 will be more accessible.

Drank Lot 66 Pinot last night and it was great, I split a case with my brother which I now regret because it sold out quick and I wish i had more. Found it to be really accessible with a PNP and poured thru a Vinturi aerator, silky smooth, crazy QPR! More of these finds please Cam!

yep…lots more of those coming…having said that, there is also lots more to come with that wine…it is definitely showing up now but a couple more months in the bottle and it’ll be decidedly more complex.

I tried my first bottle of lot 38 chardonnay this week. Lots to like about it, including a very tasty oak expression and well balanced acidity. Salted caramel with florals and lemon meringue pie? Not shy at all, I think cam’s description as Marilyn Monroe is accurate. 14.4 is a bit higher octane than I usually go for in white wines but this works well and complements the style. Perhaps the best complement for this wine is my wife who typically only likes Chardonnay in a lean chablis style thought this was quite tasty, though very different from what she usually likes. This style of hedonistic but balanced (boom boom?) is in my opinion, Cam at his best. Complements to the negociant!
