What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

The three white Jura and two Nebbiolo’s was my clear favourites. All pretty fantastic wines.

Two of the reds had mousey issues .

Naudin was drinking as I expect them to, I like them.

Billard was okay, but extremely young and way too dominated by tropical fruit for my preferences.

quari + overnoy = :mouse:

if so, not too surprising

2002 Montelena Estate. Just a gorgeous wine. Kissin’ cousins with a top, mature left bank wine, but distinctly Californian as well. The nose is capacious and endlessly complex. Superb in every way.

BTW, a Wine Spectator 72, which was “the best of 3 tastings.” Ha!

@LasseK So now 2018 Ploussard, Ploussard/Trousseau and finally 2020 Ploussard is mousy?

Bingo.

There is a reason why I stopped buying red Jura long ago.

My new favorite BdB, courtesy Rob Panzer
Delicious and light with a touch of a dry bite and just enough dosage to keep all in balance.

We sell and love Philippe’s wines. I love his approach to wine making. I’ve been seeing some good things about him on WB recently and I think rightly so. Before our US importer dissipated into thin air, we were very bullish on his wines in the US and even held a pretty wide tasting of his wines in Chicago. The response was very positive.

Glad you tried and appreciated his Chouilly. If you can find his Fine Fleur, don’t miss it.

Elegant, irresistibly refined, with delicate rose petals and Tagada strawberry notes. Pure finesse, a condensed expression of everything I love about burgundy pinot.

Funny - had that one yesterday as well! Fully agree with your note. I find these ones criminally underrated, and would easily call it good 1er from one of the ‘finer’ appelations if served blind (in fact, I have done so before for another vintage)

Wow, not examined too critically, but universally enjoyed around the table. There are cabernet franc notes on the wine, but the size and structure is more Bordeaux in nature. This was delicious now and will continue to improve medium term at least.
