What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)

  • 2017 Henri Boillot Meursault - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (8/6/2025)
Obvious oak use on the nose that was bordering on over-the-top for me, curiously it also had the Ramonet spearmint note. Palate was better to me, some green fruit and a serious weight for its level that represented Meursault well. Serious acidity that balanced the ripe fruit; would suggest drinking this up now as it became more honeyed with air. (92 pts.)

Yea, I really like that the hype has died out a bit. Makes them more attainable for me

Another stellar Corsican white

Odyssee 2018
Starting to really come into it’s own - drinking smooth with a full fruity midsection, touch of vanilla and perhaps some cab franc (must check if it is included)…and a raspy tannin at the end which softens as it airs. Time left, and lovely right now - one hour decant and then we drank it pretty fast

Still so young!

16.6%! How was it??

Packed a punch! 2 glasses was plenty. Full of fruit, not to alcoholic considering

Love the Montosoli- It made me like Brunello.

I visited the winery in June 2015 so I had to pick up a six pack as soon as it was released. It’s a great wine

Excessive VA. Aligoté 22. How unfortunate!

I am not generally a Brunello fan, but this was quite delicious.

If you liked the ‘16, I would highly suggest seeking out the ‘18. It is in a fabulous drinking window right now with a short decant.

Where are the rest of you? “Teetotaling Thursday” isn’t even alliterative.

How is the 22? It never showed up at my local shop.

Good+ at this stage (a bit young). Lots of melon up front and mid. Acid feels a bit off-balance on the finish, but it’s there. I think it needs some integration time. But at $20, and they’re so crushable, I rarely am able to wait.

Rainy winter day, needed something nice. The 2009 Mugnier CM Les Fuees did the trick. Supreme elegance, fine boned red fruited, youthful and intoxicatingly delicious

Dinner at The Progress, have not been here in a while, food was still very good as usual.

2008 Albert Boxler Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg - still very energetic but with mature Riesling notes of bruised fruit and petrol. Lovely weight and verve with a strong acidic backbone, which tapered off as the temperature warmed, very nice bottle.
