Oh super cool, Dennis! Can you tell us about the 2013 Juge? That was a hard one to source. I have a lot of 2009 through 12 and 14 and 15, but only one bottle of 13.
At Camille last night, a relatively new Orlando restaurant that received a Michelin star last year. Well worth the visit if in town.
Just a small peek:
Their take on ceviche, with Maine lobster, scallop and uni
Wagyu tartare on puff pastry
Iberico pork with cranberry reduction
The Krug 171eme is quite impressive. Fairly powerful mousse, toasty brioche and almond notes, crispy yellow fruits.
The Huet Franc de Pied is always fun when you can find it. The 2015 is a bit sweeter than I prefer but made for an interesting counter-point to the savory dishes. Like walking through a ripe tropical orchard.
It was a treat. Still young. Most animale of the group. Co-Wotn for me-though, an entirely different wine than the purity of Allemand. No rush.

And duck breast paired with a 2007La Spinetta Barbaresco Vigneto Valeirano. A wonderfully perfumed, rather opulent Barbaresco that is quite open at this stage.
Michael Candelario Blanco, La Palma
A white blend, Listan blanco (think Envinate) and exotic local varietals. A young winemaker, the maker of the elusive Las Toscas is also somehow involved. 1405 bottles made.
This is a real thing. Not unlike a serious mineral Chardonnay, but with more tension, bite, and sea breeze in your face. Like drinking say a Sauzet from a Margarita glass, with a salty rimming.
Sounds delicious!
Yes it does sound delicious, and you had to mention Las Toscas!
I do love the 08 but am blessed enthused about the 01.
No, you are not imagining this, Alfert is actually drinking a Burgundy. Loving this aromatic wine from a higher acid vintage. The red spectrum is in full display. It’s like someone squished a wild, ripe, spicy strawberry right in my mouth. Delicious but could still use a few more years to soften out the tannins.
Location: Some random liquor store in Roswell GA
Hidden in the shadows on the bottom shelf of a wood rack was this 2001 Zaccagnini San Clemente. I was floored as I thought this particular bottle was not imported to the US.
We opened it for dinner that night at Amore e Amore in Atlanta. After 20 minutes of air, the Montepulciano blew off some dusty funk and showed out this dark plum and black fruit nose with pepper and spice. By the time the lamb osso buco appeared it was a spectacular pairing.
2023 L’Envolee Chenin Blanc (Winery notes) From the Carneros appellation of Napa Valley. This dry wine is zippy yet rich, fun yet complex, and immediately approachable. This golden yellow-hued wine has varietal integrity showcasing pleasant notes of ripe pear, white nectarine, honeysuckle, and lemon zest.
Made my Bevan disciple, Caitlin Lhommeau, whose style is not “Bevanesque”, especially with her Cabernet. To me, it sings “grapefruit”! I did detect notes of nectarine with a smidgeon of honeysuckle and minerality. Refreshing. I’ll save the other 5 bottles for warmer weather. 200 cases produced.
2015 The Debate Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon I grabbed two bottles form WineBid and I’m glad I did. Definitely a modern Cali Cab. If you don’t care to be hit with a wave of red and black fruit, this is not for you. If you like that style, dive in!
I’m not surprised. Pavelot La Dominode is one of those tricky wines where patience is rewarded. Hard as nails in its youth, it tames with time but always of the red fruited spectrum with ghostly tannins. Not for everyone. Love that you found this. Cheers.
Last night at the lumber yard. I dig her touch, this is just really ripe and oaky in 18 and needs to integrate a bit.
Prettier on day 2. I have some 12, glad to see how these evolve.
Both were on top of their game. The Les Clos had a nice mid yellow colour and was a mouthful of tactile minerally lemony fruits. Great palate feel and length. My track record with Dauvissat is horrible but this bottle was a winner
The 2011 Fonsallette had a pale red colour and an intense beguiling nose of strawberry jam and some earth spicy bits. Deep palate of more red berries with very fine tannins and nice acidity. Grew deeper and more intense with time in the glass. Whilst youthful this is very drinkable and most definitely lovely.

Think I got a bunch of these from PC, last time I tried one, it was so surly that it took 3 days to sort out. Your note gives me hope, but my memory makes me pause.
