Good eye! This was a surprise for me so I didn’t know what the wines were. Strict instructions were “don’t ask what’s coming.”
Very gracious of everyone that joined and grateful to have made such good friends!!

Looks like Auckland having some spectacular late Autumn weather. Same here but it’s a real drought! 8mm in May is about to set a new benchmark, but some lovely days (if you’re not a farmer).
Yes the month of May has been spectacular, mostly dry and sunny with temps in the 18deg range. Of course Auckland almost always gets rain - 80mm so far this month but all in about 3-4 days
How was that Patty Green?
Smokin’ good. Mature but still has a handful of years in my opinion.
I popped the cork on this last night, decanted for two hours, and opened something else after a two ounce pour. I was completely turned off by a lingering bitter and ashen note on the back end. That mellowed overnight but did not disappear. I feel a bit gaslighted by all the positive press. The wine is thin, short, nondescript, and bitter. It’s not as bad as those descriptors make it sound, and I do find it drinkable, but it’s not something I would purchase again at any price.
Brick House Dijonaisse Pinot Noir 2012. Nice bottle!
I popped one of these last fall, and though my bottle showed a bit better than yours, I too was expecting better. I’m hoping it improves with time, but that’s just me crossing fingers….
My favourite chardonnay cuvée from Marnes Blanches. It is drinking so damn well already. Has gained a lot of complexity from only a few years in the bottle.
For me this is the perfect entry point into ‘ouillé’ Jura, if you don’t have a lot of experience with the wines.
Never funky or faulty, but with a clear Jura DNA.
Keller needed about 60 minutes of air to really start showing itself, but was magnificent.
I’m admittedly not a fan of BAMA (I’m not much of a Bordeaux guy and this just has too much bell pepper for me), but the others at the table seemed to enjoy.
2020 Ben Leroux Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots
Intense nose of spices, red berries and some wood. Powerful palate with waves of fresh raspberries that lingers on in a long finish. Great acidity and some structuring tannins. High hopes for the future! Try again in 3-4 years.
Disclaimer: We sell this wine.
Most enjoyable wine I’ve drank in a long time. Just so drinkable from beginning to end. Maybe it’s the Cabernet Franc
Is it really the 1991 or is it the 1990? Can’t quite read the vintage in the photo. If 1991 an amazing result for what was a very poor year.
Edit: I can see it is the 1990 from the cork. I need to take more care looking at all the details in the photo!
cheers Brodie
2013 Terre Rouge (Amador, Calif.) Mourvèdre. Love this wine! Bought a case after sitting on a 2013 for a couple years and then opening it. They were on the 2015 at the winery, but they found a couple cases of the 2013 in storage, so made the trip up there to grab one. Always been a GSM fan, but all over this after having my first red Bandol. Open to other Bandol and Mourvèdre suggestions!
