2010 Lucia Gary’s Vineyard Pinot Noir. Stellar. Pressing Carrie for an El Nido El Nido to go with a dinner of garlic parmigiana pasta. Total overload of FLAVOR tonight.
On Monday night, we had a very acidic and not too sweet, and enjoyable, 2002 Karthäserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhof Riesling Auslese from the Ruwer Valley - Fill a quarter inch below the capsule, cork stained over halfway; color a pale yellow, good white fruits, very good acidity, and not very noticible sweetness; with a medium long fruity, acidic finish.
Consecutive nights, checking in on some of my white burgs…
2007 Jobard Meursault ‘En La Barre’
2005 Maison Chanson Meursault Blagny 1er
Both were really delightful with excellent acidity and alluring aromas. The Jobard was showing some oxidation, which was by no means off-putting but offered more toasty/nuttiness and other secondary aromas. The Chanson certainly was the more youthful and vibrant of the 2, with notes of ripe pear, lemon oil and slate-like minerality…a bit more promise there. I think its time to drink up the Jobard!
I had the 2011 a few weeks ago and friggin’ loved it. I could drink it all summer long… and then some. Great cut, lots of great melon fruit, pepper, chives, all sorts of stuff going on.
