With our pasta dinner we had a very nice 1996 Ceretto Barbaresco ‘Bricco Asili Faset’.
With my tasting group over the weekend the wines were as follows: 1985 Dom Perignon & 1985 Gosset Grande Millesime for a toast.
Blind flight of 4 reds: 2005 Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin VV, 2000 Guigal Hermitage, 2001 Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino & 1994 Heitz Trailside
With Dinner: 1994 JJ Prum WS Auslese & 1998 Chateau Beaucastel Vieilles Vignes Blanc - paired with a minted pea soup (served Chilled)
Main Course: 1989 Lynch Bages & 1998 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis (Magnum) - Paired with spiced fire-roasted leg of lamb
Cheese Course: 1969 D’Oliveiras Sercial Madeira - Paired with 3 cheeses, 2 cow’s milk, 1 goat’s milk and candied pecans
Dessert: 1986 Chateau Guiraud Sauternes - Paired with a Peach and Blueberry crisp
Really a fabulous showing followed by a few tablespoons of pepto in the A.M
Cheers!
2009 La Grange aux Belles Anjou 53 - Now this is some funky juice! Barnyard and cherry juice galore on nose, deep fruits and plenty of acid on palate. Intoxicating stuff, love it.
2008 Zepaltas RRV Pinot. As my wife said “this is WAY more interesting than the ('07) ZD we had last night” (nothing wrong with the ZD, just a bit one-dimensional).
2008 Settembre Cellars cab sauvignon
2007 Drinkward Peschon
2 other local bottles (same producer) not worth mentioning
2005 Kosta Browne Koplen PN. Big but not syrupy.
A 2010 Pouilly Fume Domaine Des Fines Caillottes. It was lovely.
1971 Geyser Peak California Sparkling Wine with Stuffed Cucumbers and a NV Domaine La Tour Vielle Banyuls with cheeses and fruit pastes for dessert
1993 Freemark Abbey “Bosche” CS. Well received though I thought it a little past its prime.
Lat night…
2010 Dr. P Berweiler WS Spat Riesling
2009 Rhys Alpine Chard
2009 Carlisle Martinelli Road Zin
2007 KL Herb Lamb Cab

Meh
2010 Sean Minor Carneros Pinot while sitting at our laptops and discussing what will go with burritos tonight. Could be a Flux, Abstract, Gamba Zin, Boy Grenache or an old, (2003) WA Syrah.
2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Télégramme. Decanted for an hour-a good match with grilled flank steak after a great afternoon on Dewey Beach, DE.
2007 Lucia Susan’s Hill, my last one. Was a wine that helped build my palate and I still like it!
2006 François Villard St. Joseph Mairlant
Really enjoyed this one!
2010 Morey-Coffinet Chassagne Montrachet Les Houillieres. If this is what 2010 White Burgundy is like, sign me up!
We had a nice, slightly oxidized, 1991 Grgich Hills Chardonnay, with our pasta dish.
2009 Dehlinger Zinfandel. Delicious wine. I hope Tom Dehlinger does not wait 30 more years before bottling another Zin.
