What BEER are you drinking? (Part 2)

That had to be it.

Way too late to answer this, but I will anyways …

There was a barrel-aged version — came in 750’s under cage and cork — perhaps that’s what you found on draft. (?)

Had a 10oz Younger the other night. The hype still seems to be there when the doors open, with places selling tokens/tickets/wristbands, members or beer club members only etc, but every time I’ve arrived much later (around 8pm this time) it’s a much more tame scene and nobody seems to care too much. Sit down and order one. I rarely drink IPAs but every year I get reminded just how good PTY is, and since it was a tap RR takeover I was able to get a pour of my favorites as well to end the night- Damnation.

Younger remains one of my absolute favorite IPAs. And glad to see another Damnation fan in here, too, notwithstanding the fact that I rarely drink it anymore.

Dry, chocolate. 10% abv. No barrel or fruit influences which is a nice change.

Nice grassy bitterness with a clean finish.

I dig their beers. I saw an English Barleywine from them today that was almost tempting. $19.99 a 4 pack dissuaded me.

Details to come.

Not a fan of this. Good color to it but I get cherry that overwhelms it all. It’s not barrel aged , English style so I have no idea where I’m getting the fruit. And it’s not raisin a fruit I’d associate with an (English Style) Barleywine - maybe. Thankfully I just grabbed one.

I love IPA, and this one is decent.

But it’s even better with some smoky Porter mixed in!

This one is very good.

Also pretty good, but overpriced. I generally am impressed with Chapman.

We have a Smog City tap bar really close to us, but I haven’t loved anything from their (extensive!) list. Fine beer, but nothing I buy unless I’m at the marketplace with the tap bar. Happy Friday, brother!

I have not seen the Alaskan Smoked porter in ages. I think it’s only done every couple years and released to select makers. Campfire in a glass.

Same with their Baltic Porter.

Catching up a bit …

Back during XMas I was lucky to finally get to meet Mr. @Thomas_Keim at his brewpub, Yoerg’s, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Being a native Minnesotan, and also a rabid beer-lover, this meeting was far too long in the making. Thomas warmly welcomed me, my wife and kids, aunt and uncle, and was generous with his time and hospitality. And for this, he will be punished with my presence once again next time I’m in town. lol!!!

All the regulars in this soggy corner of Berserkers know I am, first and foremost, an IPA guy. But I have spots in my heart for most other beer styles, too, and I have to say — with utmost sincerity — these Yoerg’s brews are fan-tass-tic!!! Incredible clarity of flavor, crisp and clean on the palate. So crushable, but equally deserving of your time and attention. My personal favorite was the Black Forest lager, but the cave-aged steam lager was pretty much equally excellent.

And a shot of me in my new Yoerg’s threads alongside the man, himself!

I spent so much time in Minneapolis, for decades. Wish I had known Thomas back then!

I feel the exact same way about the smog city beers. In my estimation, what they do best is stout, particularly barrel aged ones.

Hope your weekend is off to a peaceful start as well!:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Goes perfect with housecleaning.

My first ever post in this thread, because I don’t drink beer at all. Ever.

But Jonathan is in Brussels to pick up some whisky, so of course is making his pilgrimages. So, for the Belgian beer geeks in the room:

Why a beer hater? You know the Franklin quote.

Very few places I’d like to go in USA anymore but this is one.
