What BEER are you drinking? (Part 2)

Hmmmmm … interesting! Never heard of that hop. Basically speaking, how was the flavor profile? Or did you just not care because you were mostly just interested in some cold suds after a hard day’s work?

It had a spicy/floral notes. I believe the variety is from Germany, but the hops used in this beer was grown in Oregon.

Yep, offshoot of Saaz, usually shows up in Hefeweizen. So going for a not-quite-Pilsner-but-still-Euro vibe

WTH is that last PP beer?! I don’t go for a month and they’ve got something new!

It’s just picture #2 of the Beachside Reset. so folks can see the hop bill.

Honestly, I prefer Swami’s. (but I also love Swami’s)

The Beachside Reset can be found in Whole Foods right now.

Parabola is my favorite stout. I lived part time 10 minutes from Firestone’s Barrelworks in Buellton CA and they’d often have it on nitro, and sometimes would tap several variants (Parabajava, coconut, double barrel aged etc). The original is always my favorite.

Curious, do you like a lot of new oak in your wines? I tried parabola once, couldn’t finish half of it.

They’re supposed to age, and actually do quite well with several years under them absorbing the oak. Most just aren’t that patient.

I don’t like heavily oaked wines but love a big bourbon barrel aged stout. Parabola also isn’t overly sweet or syrupy compared to so many BBA stouts at that ABV level (Barrel Aged Old Rasputin XX is another great one). One 12oz bottle will last me at least an hour or more.

I really love St Bernardus Abt 12 but is very hard for me to find I’ve only found it on draft at one restaurant near me and can’t get it in any local stores.

Based on two experiences, I think this brewery sucks.

I used to drink a ton of Parabola, but disti is DOA in WA, at least where I am. I’ve had one bottle of the Parabajava, that I bought in Paso, and shared with Doc @Glenn_L_e_v_i_n_e . So good.

Speaking of Stouts it rained hard today, temps down into 70s so with the chill I sought out a can.

This was a proper freak show with tea, black pepper, ginger and medium carbonation. From up north in Monterrey.

Trader Joe’s, too. :sunglasses:

I probably drink as much beer as anyone on the site, but I’m not going to write about our beers, and it’s hard to find beers that meet the standard of what we’re producing. That said, I had a chance to try Bierstadt’s Oktoberfest beer a week or so ago, and it is every bit as good as our Bobtoberfest - smooth, malty, and incredibly drinkable. If you are in Denver, I very much suggest you their place. Their Slow Pour Pils is excellent too.

THE ABLE BAKER BREWING COMPANY - Las Vegas Nevada

Not exactly a brewing mecca, but the arts district of Las Vegas does have quite a few breweries. Able Baker being the best of the bunch. The IPA’s all taste like session IPA’s and do all kind of taste alike. The highlight was a grassy Pilsener that I found to be just stunning. These are considered the best of the Nevada craft breweries and I can see why. Well made beers, not ground breakers but quite balanced and very drinkable.
