Cervecería Obni en CDMX presents Negras Inteciones Imperial Sweet Stout. Temps dropped into upper 70s, baby it’s cold outside.
Really not sweet at all considering modern Stouts. Really very FtG-y with hints of maple. Had two at 10.5% because I’m retired, and might even have a third.
Stopped in Bellingham yesterday on the way back from Artist Point. Had to visit two of the best breweries in WA - Otherlands and Structures.
Had the Polish Pilsner, the Helles, and the Kellerbier at Otherlands. Very refreshing and sessionable.
Had Junior Hazy Pale, Endless Bummer Hazy Pale, and Fuzz IPA. All were great. Was wearing a Heater Allen shirt and had two different people at Structure comment how it’s a great brewery @Rick_Allen.
The owners of Structures worked with Kevin at Chuckanut, and the owner of Otherlands worked for Kevin at Wayfinder. Structures is having an Oktoberfest celebration the last weekend of September, and Lisa and Kevin will be up in Bellingham for that.
Big time! It goes down sooooo easily, I thought it was a single. When I went to the can to confirm an abv. around 7%, I was amazed to see it’s 8.4%! It does not drink like that.
Green Cheek Beer Co. Playing It Loud. DDH DIPA. 8.6% ABV. Hopped with Citra, Mosaic, Motueka and Strata.
Green Cheek just continues to churn out world class Hazy DIPA’s on a regular basis. This is the 2024 vintage and it’s spectacular. Big creamy mouth with gobs of juicy tangerine, ripe peach, red berries and fleshy melon. Nice hoppy bite on the finish to remind you it’a a beer and not straight fruit juice. For the ABV this thing is bone dry and utterly refreshing.
Green Cheek Beer Co. Liquid Photograph. New Zealand Style Pale Ale. 5.4% ABV. Hopped with Nelson and Motueka. Pours a beautiful pale yellow with a slight green tinge, very representative of a new school west coast beer. Nice nose of crushed pineapple, dusty Sauv Blanc skins. The palate shows more of the candied white grape vinous side of Nelson. Tropical stone fruits, under ripe green melons on the transition. Bone dry and clean AF, it scrapes your palate clean. At 5.4% this is a hot weather crusher. Wonderful long bittersweet finish.
Back east for the weekend so had to have Chestnut Brewing’s Halleck Road Pale Ale, a favorite when I’m home. Currently drinking a Fat Head Head Hunter IPA at the airport. Bit sweeter than I’d prefer, but not bad.
