What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if I was in for this release but the pod has me leaning towards getting a couple of bottles.

I’m sure I’ll fold at some point this week. Tempted by the OFH too…

So far…

Have to keep things tight this month, out of space, but picked up one Detert.

The To Kalon history in the most recent Bedrock podcast is a good listen.

2023 Teldeschi Ranch Heritage

I popped this last night and it was a bit unforgiving so I delayed judgement until tonight…

Very much open for business on day 2 and showing no signs of slowing down!

One of the darkest and most brooding wines of the Bedrock lineup but honestly one of the most complex and contemplative Bedrocks I can recall tasting! Dark cherry fruit, with a less sweet roasted plum on the back end thats adding this savory umami element, cracked pepper, rose petals, and rosemary. This is long and contemplative, and I have to imagine that if i tasted this blind I would never call it a Zin blend. This is almost leaning into central coast low alcohol Syrah based on my thoughts and tasting notes but with a little bit more juicy zin fruit poking through. Seriously good now with a healthy decant but I can see how these bottles are known to have a long aging potential. I grabbed 3 on release and cracked into my first. No regrets here! Great effort from the Bedrock team! (94 Pts)

Nervo was my dad’s favorite Zin vineyard. He would have turned 83 just a few days ago, so drinking this delicious wine in his memory.

The current vintage of the basic Old Vine Zin (the 2023) sure is delicious. Great aromatics right out of the gate with a PnP. Lovely fruit and spice, great balance.

FYI that Cellar.com has a bunch of older Bedrock wines for sale. They are doing an extra 15% off today. I called to sort out a shipping window for my order (cleared out their older Roy Piper cabs, pretty jazzed about it), and they were super accomodating.

Popped this one Wednesday night with a friend and it didn’t show well. Sealed it back up and took it home from the restaurant. Been under cork since. I really like these bottles young. The expressive purple fruit and zingy acidity are awesome. Unfortunately I let this one lay down far too long. While I don’t consider 7yrs from vintage date a long time it sure was for this bottle. Bummer.
Last of the ‘19s, going to stand all my other Dolinseks up and plow through them while they still exhibit what I love about them.

This ‘19 Esola, on the other hand, is yummy! Strawberry preserves on the nose followed by persimmon and raisin spice cake, started out lean and expanded with air. A teal treat.

Mouthwatering aromas of lemon, fresh grass, and mineral. Super fresh and ripe citrus fruit, acidity to the max, nicely lingering finish. Terrific SB.

2019 has been my favorite early drinking vintages and both of these are generally great early drinking cuvées. I only have a scattered 9 bottles of 2019 left but I’ll have to start checking back in soon.
