What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?

I was initially interested in this format until i realized it would actually be more expensive than just getting a case of 750’s along with my other items during the normal release, considering the $35 flat shipping. I’d be paying shipping twice, right? Also, very possible i’m overlooking something.

ETA- this is assuming it’s still $22

I have been reluctant because I bought a boxed wine from Linne Calodo, which was excellent by the way, but they told me to consume any open box within two weeks and all boxes with six months. That would focus too much consumption into Lulu.

I’ve spoken with Morgan on this (and still have a box from last year), they’re absolutely sound a year later, the companies that produce the bladders just won’t certify them very long as a policy.

Absent the minor cost difference, this format is much more convenient for us the way we like to have our rose, off the cusp, a glass here or there, whenever we want. We’ll still buy a case of bottles as well (and we got 9 boxes last year) for other use cases, but I’m personally a huge fan

Yep. We cracked our last BiB Lulu the day after Thanksgiving and just polished the last of it off this past weekend. Was still drinking great the entire 5-ish weeks.

I find it a bit dangerous to have 3L of Lulu at my disposal - goes down way too easily - but it’s certainly more eco friendly than 4 750ml bottles.

Huge fan of the format. So nice to be able to have a single glass of good quality rose at any time, for any reason, without worrying about keeping the rest of the bottle from oxidizing.

Would love to see something like an albarino in this format as well.

2023 Barbera. First Barbera I’ve had from Bedrock and it was showing great! Red fruit leaning to cherries on the nose. Light in body but by no means thin with great acidity. Started to pick up a touch of orange/orange flower water on the nose with some air. Really liked this one, especially with the chicken parm for dinner.

2019 A Buffalo in Montana.
Lot going on. Dark fruit, fig, cedar, pepper. Balanced. Very good. 92+
Seems like this one could have a long life.

2019 Judge Sav Blanc. Agree with CT reviews the lushious body and mouthfeel almost feels like it has some Semillon in it. 14.2%. Oak adds body but is totally integrated. Who knew SB 4+ years old, still super fresh, energetic, balanced and no vegetal notes. Kudos to the B

edrock team on this.

Totally exceeded expectations. The 2018 vintage was ok, but a bit too acidic and harsh. 2019 was on another level.

2007 Bedrock Cabernet, Bedrock Vineyard. I’ll be honest. Knowing that this was Morgan’s first (commercial at least) cabernet that he’s released, i figured it would be a good wine…but maybe taste a bit more like ‘a cab made by a zin producer’. Well I could have not been more wrong. This screamed old school, Sonoma cab. Purple fruits, cassis, and while the oak is nicely integrated, the rustic tannins are still plenty prominent. This has the acidity and the stuffing to age for a long time, and I’m planning to hold my last one for a while. Really great stuff! And @Morgan_Twain-Peterson … I dig the short/stubby bottle! Gotta be a good story behind that!

2012 Carignane. Bright cranberry fruit on the nose, lots of acid with a surprisingly round mouthfeel. Fruit started turning to more of a plum profile with air and I was picking up a citrus/orange thing going on. No sign of age whatsoever on this wine, I was a bit surprised by that. Feels like there is a lot of life left in these.

I introduced some friends to Bedrock and they brought a 2015 Carignane to dinner a while back. It was glorious. Darker red fruits with nice grip and depth; no citrus though. I had never ordered any before given the vast array of bottles; fixed that right away.

Looks like they made more of the Lulu BiB this year (both based on allocations and the notes included about demand). Makes it real easy to stock up for the warmer months to come
