2009 Hudson Vineyard North, Pleine de Chêne, Syrah
Dark red/black fruit, smoky, earthy, bit of olive essence. It is holding up quite well and a pleasure to drink!

Nice! Perfect cork as well!
22 CA Syrah and 2018 Evangelho both opened tonight. They’re both young, and I’d probably wait a good long while on either of them, but with a long decant both are lovely. The Syrah in particular is really impressive for the price point.
2017-Bedrock Heritage-my daughter had it yesterday with her friend. She said it was fantastic and in a great drinking spot.
‘21 OVZ. PnP, deelish out of the gate.
2013 Gibson Ranch Heritage. Whenever Bedrock wines hit the ‘sweet spot’ that only comes with the age that these bottles deserve, the fruit from the old vines integrate with the oak and the combination with Morgan’s winemaking creates a ‘dusty’ mouthfeel that makes you smile and reminds you why you hold onto these wines so long. This is smack-dab in the zone and has a slightly more savory component due to the grapes. Well done fellas!
I dont ever have a problem with Evangelho when it’s young. it’s vibrant and lighter on its feet than the other two, tends to be OK. Old Hill and Bedrock definitely need time to be approachable. Couldn’t really tell you have Evangelho does with age, none of mine ever survive long enough to know.
Had a 2019 Evengelho over two nights this weekend and was great. Changed a bit over time but not dramatically. A few hours in on night one was probably my favorite. Would be curious to try one several years older but this one didn’t feel like it NEEDED more time.
Revisited a 2018 OVZ this weekend (since I won a 6-pack case on WineBid).

How was the Carignan?
It’s a nice wine on the lighter side, granted it was next to a Griffins Lair Syrah, probably not the easiest wine to follow. I would hold any I have for a few more years, this isn’t going anywhere soon and hopefully will gain more complexity. I would like to try it next to a 2020 Evangelho Heritage at around ten years old, would be interesting to see any resemblance.
I am more and more convinced that Morgan and Chris have over the years really improved their winemaking skills. While the '17 Sonoma County Cab isn’t bad, it doesn’t hold up to the '20 or '21s.

I think the vineyards that go into this have changed significantly between '17 and '20. Early days were mostly mountain fruit, I believe a good portion now is from Bedrock Vineyard (went to Mondavi in the past).
I do think the latest vintages of the Sonoma Cty Cab are much better for earlier drinking. I’m hanging onto the older ones to see what comes about.
2014 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Papera Ranch
Fire right now. Big tobacco presence. Paired with brisket, just crazy good all around.
I have zero Bedrock left and it’s putting a real damper on my mood. In fact, this is the lowest I’ve been on any wines ever - got a few stragglers from Enfield etc, but that’s about it. Hoping BD15 will remedy that.
Having some UTW on this Christmas eve. If this had any sort of chalkyness to it, I might have sworn it was a grower Champagne.

2011 Pagani Ranch Heritage. This was really nice. Hints of dark/deep Pagani fruit, but very subdued and almost light bodied with a tremendous amount of acidity. Delicious and refreshing, but also unique for a Bedrock Pagani.
That said, it’s basically exactly what i expected from Morgan/Chris in this vineyard in 2011. Well done fellas! @Morgan_Twain-Peterson @Chris_Cottrell
2013 Bedrock Heritage-this must be an off bottle. Nose was muted, fruit and acidity has faded. Not a bad wine. It just seems past its prime for my palate. Slight bricking on the edge. My experience was different from other recent CT notes.
Bummed to hear this, had initially pulled this then went with Breton franc de pied since we were having chicken.
