I like to take a quote or metaphor and expand it into the situation. Not as officious as making the cover song your own but yet in the same vein. One of my go to is the paraphrased Martin Buber quote that the spirit is not the blood that flows through your body, but the air you breathe. The expounding of this brings out what it is to be an adult. To launch from yourself to interacting with others so that the sum is greater. From family to the broader community. Etc Mike
“Drink wine, this is life eternal,
This and all that youth will give you;
It is the season for wine, roses and drunken friends,
Be happy for this moment
as this moment is your life."
“Remember, in everything, moderation, including moderation.”
“Here’s to hoping that you live to be as old as you look!”
“What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Here’s to your future success in law school!”
“Champagne for my real friends, and real pain for my sham friends!”
“You know, you have brain cells that tell you not to drink because alcohol kills brain cells. Luckily, those are the first to go.”
“To alcohol, the cause of, and solution to all of life’s problems.”
