The prices I posted (and I suspect the ones others posted) were prices paid some time ago. Well after the wines arrived, but on sales over the last couple of years. The Montrose though was available just last week at lastbottlewines.com for $42 as I recall. You just have to keep your eyes peeled.
I’ve been drinking up Reserve de Comtesse recenty. Should be ~$30 or less. Has the elegance of the grand vin but much more accessible and forward right now. Should gain complexity too, but delicious now.
In the last year or so, I’ve had the Branaire, Lascombes & Fleur Cardinale - all three were excellent, but needed a decant. I’m going to give them another year or two before trying again. I’ve also had the Beaulieu Comtes de taste - unless you like sweaty horse, skip that one. If you do like sweaty horse, I’ll trade you my last bottles for any thing that is not sweaty horse.

Yeah the 04 Brainaire Ducru is yum.
For another sweaty horse/manure wine, check out the 04 Larose Trintaudon. I like it but let’s just say people who like Pavie will not like this wine.
Aha, my friend, not necessarily true! Had a fantastic '04 Pavie this past weekend. The '04 Larose is a great, stinky little house wine. As modern as Pavie might be, the '04 is more restrained than '00, '03 and '05, but smells like Bdx to me! Bdx’s '04 vintage turned out some very nice wines.
Agree about Giscours which a couple of people have mentioned. Have gone just over $40, but under $50, for my best values from 04 – Pontet Canet and Leoville Barton.
I’m with Todd. I think the 04s still need years. Happy to have gotten my LC for $27 each. I have no idea who chases this wine now at current pricing.
