few days…
But…tonight…when it came up to room temp. ![[flirtysmile.gif] flirtysmile](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/c/ce2642e7caade9035e3a3b13c8b8d2b3ddb2b4c9.gif)
Really, really, like this wine…esp. with roasted chicken and veg.
A great nose of pure red/purple fruit, flowers, and minerals…Oh forget all that…it just smells and tastes GREAT!
Not cheap for Bojo - but worth every penny and then some!
Thrilled to have a bunch more.
Just finished one of these last week. I definitely was happy with the red fruit and the flowers. You’re right, the day or so later really reveals this wine.
Kim,
I love Foillard too, but I’m wondering if you noticed any green notes in this either on day 1 or when you finished it. I have on each of the 6 or 7 occasions tasting this, but they’ve all been “pop and pour” to a maximum of an hour’s decant.
Chris
Chris - I definitely get herbal (but no bell pepper) notes in his wine. Whether this comes from unripe fruit or something else, I’m not familiar enough with Bojo to say. The degree of this herby quality was not bothersome to me however - as I enjoy this aromatic profile and find it Loire Valley Cab Franc “ish.”
09 was a warm vintage, yes? I wonder if there is something site specific which brings this quality out or possibly something in the winemaking process?
KIm,
We might be speaking about the same thing - herbal vs, green pepper. It was certainly a nice wine to me, but I found this a dominant note. '09 Bojo is a ripe vintage, but I have found this herbal/green/pepper note in quite a few of the wines. I find the '05s a bit more to my taste, although they are aging and not too easy to find these days. In fact, the '05 Bojos are the most Burgundian/Piemontese vintage I have had recently. Have you tried any of them?
Chris
Chris - Can’t say that I have. My experience with Bojo is limited to the 08 and 09 vintages. Also, I’ve only had multiple bottles from Foillard, Lapierre, and Clos de la Roilette (which I’ve started serving each year @ Thanksgiving). Trying to keep my hands off a few bottles from each producer because I’d really like to see what a little age will bring to each. Also, because these producers are “natural” wine guys, I won’t buy anything unless I get it upon release - so, no “older” stuff for me - YET!
