Ordered a case of '09 Pontet Canet on futures back in June of 2010 and have not received. It’s been delay after delay after delay; delivery pushed back multiple times; multiple iterations of broken promises. There’s so much available out there at other retailers that I find it hard to understand why they haven’t received my allocation. I know a long wait is pretty much SOP with them, but did anyone else place a similar order with them around the same time that has already received theirs? This is my worst experience yet with them. Sorry to vent; just overly frustrated.
That’s really too bad. I’ve had good experiences with PC myself - out of 200 or so bottles they only failed to deliver 6 low-end CdRs (though several cases of more recent orders are still outstanding), and they refunded me cost plus 15%. In your case, however, I’d insist on delivery, because the current retail price for '09 Pontet Canet is likely 2x what you paid back in 2010…
Don’t whine too much, Premium Cru finally claims to have in my last remaining order of '05 Bordeaux… only a short 7 years after the vintage, and 6 (or is it 5? it’s so long ago I can barely recall) after I ordered them as futures.
I’m sure the provenance is pristine.
This could get ugly!
PC provokes strong feelings from everyone. Uniformly, PC is viewed as the slowest to deliver on futures, but among the best in price. I have 2 pending orders of 09 BDX (including some Pontet Canet) with them. Frustrating, I know, but I am hanging in there. I think they will eventually come through.
2009 you say? I’m still waiting for 2006 Barolo!
I ordered 4+ cases of 09 Bordeaux from them in June 2010, and everything has been delivered except 2 mags of Beausejour Duffau. My wines were:
Pontet Canet 5 mags, delivered
Leoville Poyferre 2 cases delivered
Pavie 1 case delivered
Beausejour Duffau 6 bottles delivered
Beausejour Duffau 2 mags still waiting
The crazy thing is they keep sending emails offering 2009 Pontet Canet for sale!
I received one just today!
Change Barolo to Voguë Moose and now I feel ya!
these threads make my head hurt. every one of them has a bunch of folks complaining they took their money then didnt deliver, then the rest of the folks are saying, yeah but they are cheap.
At the average income of this board, I will pay a bit more and know I will receive what i paid for in a timely manner.
he said 09. Didnt say if 1809 or 1909.
alan
Just what is the average income anyway? The way I see it, I’m not going to be drinking thee anytime soon, so I do not necessarily care about having them right away, but a little better information on when they will be here could help so much.
Reading PC threads are kinda like Groundhogs Day.
That said, many of my 2005 bordeaux futures from PC were not delivered until the spring of 2010, and some in 375ml format didn’t arrive until early 2011, so its still early for 2009 Bordeaux!
Waiting for '03 Dom and '09 Leoville Poyferre Maggies . I no longer buy wines not in store from them .
I look at it as free storage. Transparency is where I struggle. I would just like to know that the provenance is in check. But we all need to remember that we get what we pay for.
Zero sympathy for those who still buy from these clowns, you’ve been warned… for years…
Deliveries have slowed since the incarceration of Rudy K.
