Voodoo, a/k/a Ebbe Bonde Sorensen, a/k/a the Emperor of Champagne, is coming to New York next week to celebrate his 60th Birthday and at his request I am organizing two welcome celebratory dinners for him. The problem is that 30 people signed up for the dinners, 10 of them were scared away because they didn’t like big dinners, and then half the rest “had something come up and they can’t make it.” I need a few more people so we can have fun, have more wine, and not be embarrassed. So come on, New Yorkers, let’s not blow this one. I need one or two on Wednesday and two on Monday. Here’s the details:
Wednesday October 28 Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse. 44 West 56th Street. 6:30 pm.
Theme - Big Reds and Big Red Meat
Ebbe Bonde Sorensen + wife + 2 sons
Jay Hack - 2005 Futo and 2005 Saxum Bone Rock
Rebecca Schenk - 2005 Scarecrow and 2005 DuMol Isobel Chardonnay
Drew Trivissono - SQN Atlantis Grenache Mag
Leo Frokic - TBD
Walt Hoehler - 1991 Ridge Monte Bello
J. Chapman - 1997 SQN Imposter McCoy
Bob Knapp - 2003 Alban Reva and 2007 Aubert Ritchie.
Corkage will be $20 per bottle but if we bring a lot, we agreed that maybe it should be only $15 per bottle.
Monday October 26 - Allegretti - 46 West 22nd Street - 6:30
Theme - Fish and friends and the lighter side of WOW.
Ebbe Bonde Sorensen + wife + 2 sons
Jay Hack - 2005 DuMol Finn and 2004 Kongsgaard Chard.
Rebecca Schenk - 2006 Aubert UV
Cheryl Mills - Aubert Chardonnay
Paul David - Older pinot and older chard and a 1950 Port.
Note: I am especially interested in Kistler or Marcassin because the guest of honor has indicated an interest in those because he has never tried either one.
