Virtual Tasting Series: Compendium 2013

A compendium (plural: compendia) is a concise, yet comprehensive compilation of a body of knowledge. A compendium may summarize a larger work. In most cases the body of knowledge will concern some delimited field of human interest or endeavour (for example, hydrogeology, logology, ichthyology, phytosociology, or myrmecology), while a “universal” encyclopedia can be referred to as a compendium of all human knowledge.

It all started here, FMIII running out of storage space for wine and his good friend Brian volunteering to help motivate Frank to drink more from his cellar. That’s what good friends are for… How does this whole Virtual Tasting Series (VTS) thingy work?

  1. The current VTS week host selects a theme and creates a new topic Thursday morning in the wine talk forum
  2. Todd will make it sticky so it stands at the top of the forum.
  3. Then the wineberserker community from around the world starts pulling corks and posting tasting notes into the thread for all to share.
  4. There’s an important charitable aspect to each week as the sponsor decides on a worthy cause and makes a donation in the name of wineberserkers worldwide. The more tasting notes you write the more money goes to a worthy cause.
  5. At the bottom of this post is a list of future hosts and the date, we transition to the next in line. You’ll receive a reminder a few days before so no need to worry once you’ve thrown your hat into the ring.
  6. Come the following Thursday morning the handoff occurs
  7. GOTO #1 and the process starts over

Hold on to your wallets!

LOL, miscue with Fu. Need to tap another. I’m a total failure at this. Gonna go rejoin eBob and rave about Nido and Clio.

I’m guessing '71 DRC?

ha. I had a fun theme set up, but I thought it started today to next thursday. I can’t do next thursday to the thursday after that unfortunately.

Hey, and I mean this seriously, why not start it now for week 11?

Serious, my theme appears to have died a slow and excruciating death.

Let’s take a bogie and start anew. I stroked a check already!

If everyone is fine with that, I’m fine with that as well.

Do it, life needs leaders that make executive decisions. Apologize later. Give me heads up so I pack the right wine for my trip tomorrow to Miami for the weekend.

I failed Alfie by starting my wine hiatus Monday. Who does that?

If you change, no problem, Fu posts a new week 10 thread and PM Todd to make the new thread sticky and release the other Viva Espana thread.

I’m opening a Spanish wine tomorrow night, regardless. neener
