Sad news from Walnut Creek. There is a closeout going on. Stated reasons include “Not enough interest in the community” and “Inadequate online sales performance.” Notably, Vinous Reverie was a BD participant for the past few years.
Igor was always a great host and the selection was one of the most eclectic in the area with a particularly excellent German/Austrian section. I learned a lot about those wines and always found something else interesting, often a unique cremant or other sparkling wine. It was a bit hard to find if you didn’t know where it was and didn’t particularly lend itself to events (which seem to be getting more important for independent wine shops), but I always enjoyed finding an excuse to cross the bridge and visit.
