Vinfolio - anyone having bounced checks??

After reading the ebob thread and Bachmann’s post, nothing adds up. I would like to think that there is a creditor out there who is going to come in and restructure to keep the business afloat, but there are too many holes left in the explanation. They had to be running on empty for some time, possibly going back to the first part of December. At that point they may have been taking money in and putting it towards the longest standing debt until all money had to go for rent at the end of the month. After that, they must have been issuing checks in anticipation of money coming in to cover the checks until the bank just plain cut them off.

We’ve seen this scenario a number of times over the last two years. The government bailed out the banks, but the banks won’t bail out the businessman and it seems to be that group that suffers the highest consequences.

I hope Vinfolio can right itself and make everyone involved whole again.

Does anyone understand the Finger Lakes Village Idiot trying to smear Eric about all this???

I find it pretty incomprehensible.

I was hoping somebody could interpret his post. [dontknow.gif]

I think this pretty much is the feeling of most everyone.

He is under some delusion that Eric Levine is responsible for someone posting a poor review of his wines on CT or something similar. Since Eric won’t take them down it looks like he is also at fault for Vinfolio’s checks bouncing. Shades of Pat Robertson.

Thanks, now it makes a little more sense. [foilhat.gif]

Shades of Pat Robertson…perfect.

if my exploding inbox is any indication, eric is going to be a net benefctor of this situation. people cant get their data off the vf server fast enough, and CT is the logical alternative. it seems sad to loose the marketplace integration with CT, which is very slick, however, a restructuring could keep marketplace as a viable sales channel. its too early to know for sure, but faulting eric is insane.

Zucc, you really are a world class dick.

I was thinking I’d only be out $24 for not shipping three bottles, but then it occurred to me that I’ve already been charged $18.50 for shipping. By rights they should refund that if you don’t ship, but I don’t remember that being addressed in the selling agreement. And all bets are off now anyway, it would seem.

I humbly apologize for my crack about your English. [worship.gif]

I’m betting that if they try to charge the $8 per bottle you can appeal to the credit card company and get it back based on the NSF check issue and the current business issue.

Wow, bad news.

I have to give some credit to my buddy, Max, who, a litle ways back, made comments intimating that VF was in trouble.

I am not trying to take thunder away from Zuccs. He is the man.

Just as an aside, I am not sure Steve Bachmann owed any explanation on any bulletin board. This is business. Business happens (quietly) everyday. Although, he did use this forum and others to pump up his business, so maybe he did.

Of course, Carolina Wine Company is a good example of a real prick screwing over customers.

I got two posts deleted in that thread commenting on John Z.

No longer there =(

Sanks. [wink.gif]

When a company continues to mail checks from an account with NSF, the CEO should get involved and answer to the people that have received them or give the authority to someone to handle it. With him posting on ebob with something like “read my blog @ 3 for explanation” was IMO a bit chicken shit when he had told one of the people that received a bounced check he would contact him by this afternoon, then all he received was an e-mail with a link to Bachmann’s blog. That person was sitting on the sidelines not pitching a bitch and telling everyone to wait until he got a call, that call never came, only the e-mail. We have heard from 3 people between the 2 boards that have received bounced checks in the last couple weeks with no resolution. It looks obvious this was brewing much longer than the couple of bounced checks.
The wine in storage is more than likely insured but are they paying their insurance.

In Bachmann’s blog he states that they did the assigning on 1/15/10, the checks started bouncing a week before that as far as we’ve heard.
I don’t know how a business with a liquor license can be assigned to another without the transaction going through our Alcohol Beverage Control. It’s is not something you can fast-track.

If this had not been brought up on the other BB maybe it would have resolved itself with none the wiser but then Mr. Bachmann or someone should have stayed in contact with the parties that were trying to receive their funds for bounced checks.

I wasn’t clear on the “Assignment for Benefit of Creditors” so I checked it out, I put the link below for anyone else that is unsure of the definition as stated in Mr. Bachmann’s Blog of what Vinfolio is going through.

Ok, I’m done. Back to your regularly scheduled flogging of U NO HOO [wink.gif]

If anybody posts about being out 20 or 30 bucks again, I will lose my mind. I am out a lot more than that, and I am sure my potential loss is small compared to others in this situation. Have some common sense!!

I love that Squires left Zuccarino’s insane diatribes against Eric, but got offended at Charlie’s posts. I really have no idea why people put up with the crap over there…

Bump.

Here’s to a Happy Sunday! pileon

I can’t even drink right now. headbang

I was going to say similar. I participate on heavily moderated fora, but none of the admins come off as self-righteous and illogical as Squires. I think I might just only post here now.
