I have always enjoyed the Dalla Valle Cabernet which has been sub 300.
Appears that I didnāt get an allocation.
there will be a regular allocation in the next few weeks. this is early release. VHR has been better than others with pricing. Just got my Schrader allocation- 1-3 pack with 2 bottles of Wappo Hill and 1 bottle of To Kalon Heritage clone. Disappointing.
picked up a 3 pack. They didnāt drop me after skipping 2020, after only buying 19.
Iām definitely buying, just debating on number of 3-packs. Historically, Iāve always grabbed 2, but space is at an all-time premium and the pricing does make me pause.
On the other hand, Bruce and Heather are such wonderful people and gracious hosts, and prices donāt seem to be getting cheaper anytime soon.
Well said. Staring to have the same problem , space. Cellar full, two euro caves and two off site locations. Also, figuring out what to buy when you are in your 70s. I keep buying and telling myself its for the kids.
I skipped '19 and '20 and still have an allocation this year. I appreciate that I donāt have to buy each year to keep my allocation so I think I should buy this year to make sure I donāt lose it.
A couple of folks have noted this and it makes me wonder:
- Do they not have a waiting list?
- If they do, how long is it and how long does it take to get onto it?
- I think itās awesome that they ārewardā those who have purchased in the past even if they skip vintages
Cheers
Iām not sure if they have a waitlist, but the wines seem readily available from online retailers for <$300.
Picked up my allocation of 2x 3-packs. Price increase is what it is⦠Solid vintage got me over the line
Will put at the back of the cellar and doubt will regret when I eventually crack open

Ended up buying mine too. Had a 2011 recently that was beautiful, hard to believe it was a ābadā vintage.
I have been buying these cabs. Nice wine.
Iāve only bought VHR once and that was the 2016 vintage several years ago. I got an email today that as a previous purchaser I will be receiving an allocation next week on 20 February.
16 nice year 21 great year skip 22 if u like buy 23 are my thoughts VHR is just one of those napa cabs to have if one can afford and are a napa cab person
Why skip 2022?
In looking into the future based upon vintage reports if say 300 is a stench then wait for the 2023 if it is not then buy VHR is high on my list as long as i can remember 2023 is expected to be one of the great years for cab
2022 was a tough vintage and 2023 is shaping up to be an amazing vintage (possibly the best in recent memory).
This is my plan as well. Iām staying on a few of these top end lists this year, probably do minimum purchase next year for '22, then all in for '23, which āmayā be my last for these big dollar wines.
Volume should be good for '23 too so hopefully they can keep prices downā¦
Order in for my usual (2) 3-packs. Prices arenāt getting cheaper, however Iām trimming down mailing list purchases, so Iāll likely spend the same but will end up with less wine overall. Iām okay with that!
Have a tasting scheduled in early April. Does anyone know if Bruce has wine to purchase at the tasting or if itās tasting only? Seems some of the berserker approved wineries generally sell out during offerings and just get to try wines at tastings. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance
