Brian! Are you taking Melissa to Vegas? Atta boy!!
This group will send you to quite a few, I’m sure, but ALWAYS Lotus of Siam (known here as LOS) will be at the top of the list. Buy some good Riesling when you are there, enjoying the Thai food!
I travel to Vegas quite often on business and have eaten at numerous excellent restaurants. The question is a hard one.
If you want a romantic dinner , the absolute best place is the Eiffel Tower Restaurant In Paris Hotel. Make sure you ask for a table by the window so you can view the Bellagio’s dancing fountains. Their food is excellent. I would recommend the tasting menu and wine pairings. Not cheap though.
For steak - Craft Steak or Prime
For an excellent fish or continental meal - David Burke’s in Venetian. An excellent, and often overlooked Vegas Gem. Food was outstanding.
Also, I am not a fan of Joel Rubichon’s (sp?) restaurant . I thought it was just ok and thought there was quite a number of restaurants that were much better. Try Le Cirque for a better experience.
For wine experience - Aereole in Mandalay Bay, although their food is not my favorite. Their list is electronic and rather impressive. I would also recommend the Angry Grape at the M , its a wine bar that offers a ton of wines by the glass and very cool, relaxing atmosphere.
For a tastings menu - Michael Mina’s in Bellagio.
For probably the best seafood (and filet mignon as well). I have to say I have been totally impressed with Joe’s Seafood at the entrance to the Forum Shops. Absolutely fantastic meals each time I have been there.
Most overated restaurant - Restaurant Charlie in Palazzo. I was NOT impressed and it was VERY expensive. I don’t mind paying, but I want a great meal if I spend that kind of money, huge disappointment. The best thing about my meal there was getting introduced to Merry Edwards Pinot’s (at $25 a glass!).
I also like Cafe Monterrano (sp?) . Great Italian Food
One thing about Vegas, there are more excellent dining establishments per square mile then anywhere else in the world.
If I had to pick only one to eat at and only one, for me, it would be David Burke’s or Michael Mina’s.
Agree with the comments about Lotus (beware they are closing for renovations immediately after Thanksgiving for a few weeks) and Craftsteak. Love them both.
If I’m going to be in Vegas for only one night, dinner is at LOS … regardless of how recently I was in Vegas last. For me, it’s the best thing Vegas has to offer … seriously.
I haven’t been to LOS yet, but that is next on my list next time I am out there. My favorite place is Todd English’s Olives in Bellagio. Great food, ambiance, not overly expensive, and wonderful views of the lake and water show at night.
I know this will sound weird, but we go to Vegas when we get the “jonesing” for LOS, not the other way around. We really enjoy Vegas. But we do Vegas when going to LOS.
