Vegas restaurants--need one

Other than LOS, other than a steakhouse, what is great in LV right now?
Thanks in advance.
Alan

I love L’Atelier at the MGM.

I’ve had two real nice meals at Bouchon at the Venetian.

picasso is nice as well. especially on the patio during nice weather.

Spago Las Vegas has Eric Klein as executive chef, former Food and Wine best new chef (got it at Maple Drive3) and a disciple of Puck’s for a long time. Tasting menu is $99, best deal in town. I go there every time I’m in town, always thrilled.

BYO friendly too!

Sage

Was just in Vegas a few weeks ago. Really enjoyed meals as Milos, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Julian Serrano, l’Attelier, among others. Thought Sage was terrible. Last time I was there I enjoyed Twist in the Mandarin Oriental, though it is very expensive.

Wow - Sage terrible? Had you been there before? Admittedly it’s been a year since I was there, but I thought it was excellent. I hope they haven’t slipped that much.

FWIW, in the “terrible” category I firmly plant L’Atelier and Michael Mina. L’Atlelier, to me, has continued to slip over the years since I first went there in '06 (?). Mina was so bad the first time that I’m never going back.

I agree with Barry (Eric Klein does a great job at Spago) and David (L’Atelier Las Vegas is terrible). Liked both Jaleo and Andres’ Chinese/Mexican cafe, China Poblano, a couple of weeks ago. David Myers still makes my favorite burger at Comme Ca.

Perhaps different strokes. Everyone I was with (5 people) thought Sage was terrible. And it came highly recommended as well- from just about everyone too. Everyone we ate with at l’Atelier OTOH loved it (7 people for that meal). Never had a bad meal at the Vegas location or any of there other locations. I could go either way on Mina. My number one overrated right now is Aureole.

Different strokes. I really like L’Atelier Paris and really don’t like L’Atelier Vegas in the same way that I love Venice and hate the Venetian…

Oh yeah - that burger is awesome for Vegas or anywhere. Comme Ca is on my list when I return in a few weeks. Distant second for a burger in Vegas is BLT in the Mirage. Not a huge fan of the burger place in Mandalay aside from the fact they have a pretty good draught beer selection.

I was planning to hit Sage again, but now I’m re-thinking that…

I get stuck at the MB complex for a week every year – the Burger Bar is a great when you don’t have time to get out on the strip. I love being able to build a burger with amazing toppings of my choice. Given the rest of the MB complex has crap generic beer their draft and bottle selection is another great draw as you noted.

  • 1/2 on Sage. I didn’t think it was terrible but I did think it was nowhere near worth the coin they’re charging. Posted a review on my blog about a year ago.

Loved Julian Serrano. Highly recommended.

If you like tapas and want to get off the strip a short taxi ride then Firefly on Paradise is a great little tapas place.

If you have a rental car and feel like about a 30 minute drive go to Marche Bacchus.

“Stuck” is a good way to put it. I love MB and THE Hotel, but you’re just so far away from the “core” strip that I seldom opt to stay there. I really do like the feel of MB, however.

Alan - you might also look into Scarpetta. Had a great meal there last year.

If you want to get away and do something a bit different Raku is great. Eat at the bar, order 2 bites at a time until your stuffed a couple of hours later. (Bites are $2 to $8 around with most on the lower/mid end price really.) Really great food.

I’ve been to L’Atelier in Vegas a handful of times, and never left disappointed. It’s probably not fair to compare it to Paris, but we’ve certainly enjoyed it.

I’m going to Vegas next month, and was fortunate to secure a reservation at “e”, the restaurant-within-a-restaurant at Jaleo in the Cosmopolitan. I know a few people that have been, and all have gushed over it. Can’t wait!

I went to Sage Saturday night and really enjoyed it. My brother and I sat in the bar area as we just walk din but had a nice experience. Our server was very educated about the menu and after some moments of talking I settled on the Kobe Skirt Steak. It was out of this world good. Cooked perfectly it melted in the mouth with each bite and the different sauces on it paired perfectly. I would definitely based on my short experience recommend it.

We have had 3 meals over the years at Picasso, all have been at least very good, although the first was by far the best, and the last one was the least…good wine list too…

Do you have to take all 8 seats or can you just do a twosome?
