Vacation plans?

Our free vacation time is now to make sure we do family swings. Just returned from the Hawaiian Islands to visit kids, grandkids, and in-laws. Will plan a April-May trip to California to visit my side of the family and squeeze in a viticulture business side trip. If I delay the California trip to the summer it would be to see the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters one more time. Tough to get away in the spring, summer, and fall though.

Nothing big planned until later this year since my wife use most of her vacation for maternity leave (6 weeks leave is an abomination, btw). Probably a week in CA and maybe swing up to PDX around one of her conferences.

Bad start as I was supposed to be in Tucson now instead of shoveling snow. NOLA in March, Vegas in May, Burgundy in May. Haven’t thought further than that.

Satellite Beach, FL (near Cocoa) the beginning of March visiting family, kayaking in the canals, lots of cooking.

County Kilkenny, Ireland, in October. Running the Dublin Marathon October 27.

I need to get out of town . . . .

My daughter and I are headed to Amsterdam tomorrow.

What do we do if teased about speed skating?

Two weeks in Maui in May. Can’t wait.

Smoke a little hash and smile

Bragging doesn’t sound very Dutch to me.

Maldives now
Rome, Venice , Paris in may/June
Moorea and Bora Bora in September

Nice. We took our honeymoon in bora bora and moorea but that was back in 95 so I imagine it may have changed quite a bit. We hired scooters and ride around moorea, up to the top of the main peak which was fantastic. Like the land that time forgot!

Good plan also excitement also about it, truly you enjoyed it.

Will celebrate 29eme anniversaire de mariage in Paris

Mid-May, a week each in London and Paris.

London in the fall

This year’s motorcycle trip will be even longer than last year’s.

Beginning around April 10 from the Northern California coastal town of Eureka, I’ll be embarking on a back road (as much as possible) ride on my 2004 KLR 650 around the perimeter of the United States, ending up back in Eureka at the end of July. With a few side trips to visit Berserkers and others from food and motorcycle forums. I’ll ride more than 15,000 miles.

San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego CA, El Paso and Brownsville TX, New Orleans LA, Key West FL, NYC, Provincetown MA, Bangor ME, Buffalo NY, International Falls MN, Forks WA, Astoria OR and back to Eureka CA

Over the years, I’ve met nearly 500 people from West Coast Wine, Parker and Berserker boards. If anyone along the way would like to get together, drop me a line. I’ll have lots of stories to tell [cheers.gif]

Folks, if you haven’t yet met Bob, figure out a way to do so. Bob is one-of-a-kind, and I look forward to seeing him each time I have the chance. In fact, why don’t you set a ‘tour’ up in regions where you know you’ll be in, and setup a series of offlines? I’m sure we can get Berserkers to agree that they bring the wine, since you are touring the whole country on your motorcycle, and obviously can’t take much, if any, with you!!

Bob, I haven’t heard enough stories, though, as events like Falltacular keep me too busy to sit and hear the stories. Gotta remember to set aside time!

Thanks Todd, I’m hoping to get together with the New York peeps en masse. I’ll be there around the third week of June. Sorry Jen was sick at Falltacular. It was a blast, and nice to get back into the SoCal swing of things. I’ll be there 4/28-30 so an offline would be great. You’re right, I can’t carry wine, but I shipped a half case for Chicago Berserkerfest last year. Good thing too, it would have frozen on the ride from Colorado!

Hope to see you in April, if not, have a great time in SS and Champagne!

Sounds like an amazing adventure, Bob. Good luck!

If Bob Summers = Backroad Bob, I’ve drank with him, and rode with him (albeit the latter was in a car around Las Vegas. This was back in 2001. Glad to see you’re doing well, Bob.
