I dunno, I exist to satisfy everybody. Unfortunately, being in “satisfaction for everybody” business, I often get bad taste in my mouth, sore asshole and occasional VD.

RP is not just expressing his opinion. He is denigrating others for having a contrary view. I’m not sure why this is so hard to understand.

It’s PARKER who is doing the bashing. Many of us are just appalled by it and say so. I have been a paid subscriber to the WA since the 1980. If it weren’t for Antonio, I would stop. But I am appalled that some of my money is going to support RP’s attitude problem.

Can I put this “haha look what Parker was wearing” line to rest? I do not agree with how he said what he said, but what we wore has nothing to do with anything. I have been to Bibou about 10 times since it opened last spring. Philly has loads of BYOs and the BYO culture is quite casual. Because this is a well regarded and high quality BYO, some people choose to dress up a bit (in truth, Bibou attracts a lot more suburbanites who may decide to get a bit more dressed for a night in the city). However, I have gone there in very casual dress. It’s not a big deal. If you think Bob should dress better because he is a “personality” that is one thing, but his attire was not out of place at Bibou.

Especially since the comment originated from a philly.com commenter. I go to philly.com many times a day. 99% of the comments (as I’m sure with most “news” comments) devolve into racism, insults, anti-Philadelphia government and have absolutely no value whatsoever. That a comment on that site has gotten play on this board is just silly.

If that is appropriate dress for that restaurant, then I apologize for my comment. When I go to a nicer restaurant in Boston or NY, that’s not the type of attire I usually see, but if that’s normal there, then I was mistaken.

I agree with Tom. There are a lot of people I know in the wine world who I enjoy spending time with and whose opinions I enjoy reading and discussing. Many of them will not participate in this BB because they think there are too many kindergarten children flipping sand at each other on the playground. I agree that there are a lot of people here who need a course in maturity. Whether there are too many such people is a matter of debate. My preference is that the children complete their maturation process and stop acting like juveniles so often. Then some of the adults who refuse to spend time here may join or become more active. I have no problem spending time with the children (I organized the first ever National Kindergarten Chess Championships in the United States), but others do, and this is a web site that they should reasonably expect to be child-free.

If you click the New Posts link there’s one RP related thread in the top 50 threads. This is the only thread in the last few weeks to talk about RP. There USED to be a lot and it was genuinely limiting the board, but over the last few months it’s dropped off a lot and, frankly, it’s pretty minimal at this point and easily avoided.

We always hear about those delicate souls who cannot tolerate the vile environment here. I can’t imagine how they deal with real life because, frankly, this board is fine for the vast, vast majority of the time. Perhaps they like a safe, clean, censored board. Perhaps they would like any threads not on the approved list of topics to be locked or deleted. In that case might I recommend this board.
