Looks like at least a few of the early posters were not hard-core wine folk, so you got something of an objective take on Parker by those who appear not to know who he is. And they all concluded that he is an asshole (and a slob)…

He does look shitfaced. The problem with Parker is that’s he’s like Obama or any other President…whatever comes out of his mouth gets scrutinized by the press and the public (us), and it’s worst for him cause he’s drunk a lot.

sorry all, but i keep getting the feeling over here that you just exist to bash him. is this purpose outlined in the rules somewhere? i spend more and more time here each week but this sentiment is more than a bit overwhelming to me. i’ll keep watching, but for now i guess i’ll just watch from the sidelines. oh, and if it’s all tongue in cheek, i missed it as usual.

It’s actually a funny quote from RP - one critic’s view - but as usual - the usual bashers rip RP for doing the same things they are doing - expressing their opinion -

I think this quote was meant with Roberto in mind more than anyone else - who had a long running feud with Parker over “dirt” versus “fruit” - Roberto even went to the extent of sending RP a group of exotic Italian reds that ended up being ripped by RP with very similar notes - something Roberto did handle with alot of class compared to many who just ended up joining various bashing threads -

I live in Seattle so I can be a slob and dress in jeans, t-shirt and fleece most of the time. I would never dare do that in the Northeast though. I honestly don’t care what Parker wears. I am happy for him that he has such a clear idea about what HE likes in a wine. I can never understand why he continues to feel it necessary to go that extra step and denigrate others for THEIR opinions about wine. It just doesn’t make any sense, well at least to someone with a modicum of manners.
