It’s interesting that the TTB generally doesn’t let brewers use European place-names on beer labels. You can’t use Munich, Vienna, Dortmund, or Pilsen (there are exceptions to this which are ridiculously easy to meet). It’s interesting that Budweis doesn’t share in that protection.
When I was in London in '85, the local stores all had a small eclectic selection of beers in the cooler. One row of each beer. So, maybe 20-30 choices at each store, in a small amount of space. Different selections at each store, fun for a young American to explore. One day I went into the local shop and there was this massive pyramid of Budweiser on the floor. Oh the humanity!
