UGC Bordeaux, NYC Jan 22nd.

Anyone else attending? The chateaus will be pouring the wonderful (lol) 2007 vintage.

I went to UGC last year in LA but will likely skip it this year, unless I’m really bored. It was quite difficult to taste that many wines that really needed decanting, and age (I had the '06’s and some '05’s). Perhaps I’ll give it a whirl, though…

Agreed, but if you go early enough you you can avoid the masses of people and focus more on the wines. I do agree with you though, in that they really should be decanted because they are such tannic monsters.

The stickyies are always fun though.

Not this year for me, but I’m sure you’ll see Victor there. [berserker.gif]

I thought about heading up to nyc for it Mike as the lines will be less ridiculous than last year (by the time I got to Pontet canet/Pichon Baron & Lalande etc they were all gone!), but the depth of the wines that are interesting are pretty weak. If I went, it would be simply an informative excersize so don’t count me out.

I plan on hitting the popular ones such as Pontet and Angelus. Tempted to taste the Gazin, and then of course, I always hit Cantemerle

Anyone have the full event details?

Does he still bring his backpack to store a few bottles?

I have not been in the last few years. Too much of a zoo.

Alan,

You can email Tiffany at “tvangorder@balzac.com

Paul, it is not much of a zoo at the beginning but after an hour or so, it does get crazy

Well, if I recall, people are lined up an hour before the thing even starts. Maybe not as bad with the change in the economy. If I am going to go to one zoo tasting next year I’m going to make it GR’s Tre Bicchieri.

You are going to the trade event, correct? Strange because last year there was no line at all

Yes to the trade event. Like I said, it could be the economy.

Thanks Mike - by the way, enjoyed your notes on the 1990s you had…

We can do an offfline afterwards, given how it is on Friday.
