Is the Schorsch the first Ockfener Bockstein cuvee that isn’t labeled Alte Reben (like the Mia)? Also, only two Euchariusberg Kabinetts in 2025 (Gisela and Kugel Peter)? I got spoiled with 2023 when there were four (Gisela, Kugel Peter, Ternes, and Arthuro)?

The first vintage of Ockfener Bockstein Kabinett was 2021, and neither Schorsch nor Mia was labeled as “Alte Reben.” To help differentiate between the two wines, we decided to label Mia as “Alte Reben” starting with the 2022 vintage. We also produced Schorsch in 2023. Likewise, the first vintage of Krettnacher Euchariusberg Kabinett was 2015, and neither Kugel Peter nor Gisela was labeled as “Alte Reben.” We only added this term to Gisela for the 2016 vintage, even though both wines come from old vines. In certain vintages, we had three or four Euchariusberg Kabinetts, but we decided to stick to two wines.

Maybe I’m wishfully reading something into but sounds like 2025 could be a very interesting vintage (?).

I only tasted at a few top Mosel (not Saar) estates and it is extremely promising. Most growers compared it to 2015.

Thank you Robert, also had your remarks from your stay in mind and thought Lars notes hinted at very exciting wines (Falkenstein’s wines always are but you know what I mean).

Unlike 2024, we had no frost damage in 2025, and thus we were able to produce more wine. In other words, we could pick from an embarrassment of riches. There are actually two casks from some of our best parcels.

Someone asked about the shipment to NYC. The wines are ready for pickup and will ship within the next couple of weeks.

Update: The last two U.S. shipments for the new vintage are for Kily Imports and MFW Wine Co. MFW’s pickup is scheduled for tomorrow. MFW distributes Falkenstein in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maine, Texas, and Florida. Kily, based in Seattle, sells Falkenstein in Washington.

I just picked up some 2025 Falkenstein wines at MacArthur Liquors in DC. Given that I recently loved a 2019 Meyer Nepal, I bought some of that. And, I have never had a Falkenstein Auslese, I bought the Forster.

Hi Lars, I prefer my Rieslings with 5-10 years of age, and I do not enjoy petrol notes. Based on that, Falkensteins would you suggest?

Do you like dry, off-dry, or sweet?
I forgot that Ungrafted Selections in Connecticut has an order to pick up.
I like dry, with high acid.

I’d recommend any of the Kabinett or Spätlese trocken wines.
