Two tasty 12's

  • 2012 Domaine Joblot Givry 1er Cru Clos de la Servoisine - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry 1er Cru (3/31/2014)
Banana esther notes on the nose blow off to reveal a wine that has plenty of green melon fruit. It has good volume in the mouth with plenty of flora and spice. The acidity is relatively soft yet the wine leaves a strong mineral impression once swallowed.
  • 2012 Domaine Joblot Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier Aux Moines - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Givry 1er Cru (3/31/2014)
Beautiful nose of fresh cherries and violets. It is round and ripe with good minerally detail in the mouth. It finishes with excellent cut.

Jeremy,

These notes brought a smile to my face. I haven’t had these wines in years and I think I still have a bottle or two of the 1999’s. Notwithstanding I aged one or two of them I think their upfront fruit rewards early enjoyable drinking.

Al

Certainly good generosity of fruit on these two Al and they have a record of aging well.

Hi Jeremy, nice TNs as usual. Probably like a lot here these Joblots, as great QPR wines, are wines I buy most vintages. They’re not out yet in our market (to my knowledge). Do you see these '12s as being on a par with recent good vintages, particularly the '09s and '10s?

Best, Howard

Agree with those notes. Nice wines with good minerality and cut

Howard,

Just sucking on a '12 Marole as we speak, deliciously fruity with a meaty edge. The 12’s have flesh but perhaps not the density of 09 or 10. I didn’t love the '11 Joblots, they do better in riper vintages for mine.

Best Regards
Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy. I see that Meadows rates the '12 Marole pretty highly (90-92).
