Two St. Urbans-Hofs in two nights

  • 2007 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/29/2009)
    Very similar to last tasting… great mouthfeel. Had this right after the Kabinet. The Spatlese is slightly heavier and with a touch more sweetness on the tip of the tongue. This one also has a hint of fizz - which I liked. Again, white fruit, citrus and flowers. (90 pts.)
  • 2007 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (6/27/2009)
    Drinking beautifully now. Fresh and lively. Very nice nose of white fruit (apple, peach) with a bit of citrus. Follows through on the palate with the acid which makes the mouth water. Enjoyed with new friends at the Carlton in Pittsburh. (90 pts.)

Can’t comment on the wines, but I saw your post and thought I would stop by & say hello/long-time, no see, etc.

We just had a very nice tasting a week or so ago at Sola in Bryn Mawr, which if I recall correctly is in your neck of the woods. Off the menu, but the chef really put together a nice meal to complement our wines, including a goat cheese panna cotta that was unreal!

OK — Sola is in my neighborhood and Dave (chef/owner) is not only a good friend but my wife’s cooking teacher. Wish I had known [cry.gif] He does a very nice job with the wine tastings.

That Kabinett is absolutely crackin’
I wish I got a few bottles for myself before it went bye-bye
(or is that buy-buy? :wink: )

The Kabinett is indeed very tasty stuff. Been through several bottles already and unfortunately down to my last.
