Night before last, after our oriental dinner, we had TJ’s chocolate bars with the last third of a lovely 1940 NIepoort Port (left over from a Wine Geek’s dinner). Last night after the pasta and merlot we had two cheeses, aged Manchego and Doux de Montaigne with raisins and mixed nuts and a tasty 1999 Ridge Buchignani Ranch Zinfandel (Old Vines, 91% Zin, 9% Carignane), rich dark berry fruit, ok acidity, mostly resolved tannins, and a medium long dark berry finish; very nice with the cheeses and accompaniments.
