Hi Barry- just realizing I never got back here to finish my story. Been so busy with a year of continuous travel which winds up in a couple of weeks. Our favorites:
- Armando Pantheon
-Trecca - off the beaten path but excellent food - wine list focuses on natural wine
-Emma Pizzeria
-Roma Sparita - casual sit outside cacio pepe
-Grano - love Sunday lunch here
-Life
-Colline Emiliane for tortellini
-Pierluigi is very good but very expensive- NYC level pricing
Have a good trip!
Hi Maire, so glad to hear that you’ve had a good year traveling. We’ve missed you! The time and energy you put into your posts are tops, one of the things that makes WB so interesting.
Thanks!
I have heard great things about Emma, but I go to Roschioli’s forno so often during y trip that I never go. Is the pizza there better than at the Forno Roschioli? Hard yo imagine e better than that.
I like Pierluigi and have recommended it around here in the past. You might also take a look at Il Sanlorenzo for great fish/shellfish. We haven’t been since 2018, though. For some time, it was Katie Parla’s favorite Roman fish restaurant.
Barry- it’s different if your asking about Antico Forno Roscioli compared to Emma ? Emma has wood fired pizza’s compared to the traditional by the square style of Forno. Emma also has a terrific wine list and broad menu of non pizza items so a good spot to work in a casual meal that usually satisfies. https://www.emmapizzeria.com/
We had solid meals at Emma and great snacks at Forno on our past trips.
