Two exceptional wines: Hubert Lamy and Caymus SS

Lamy St Aubin Frionnes 2010
four days later, it is just singing. When first opened after a two hour decant it was delicious with that Coche oak. Gunpowder and beautiful mineral fruit with nice cut. Four days later it is even more complex. Superb balance and complexity. Drinks like a top-notch premier cru from puligny.

Caymus SS 1991
It’s my favorite year for California. 1991 is the most French year with the best balance in my opinion. 1995 is my second favorite. This Caymus is extremely complex at 33 years. Cedar, sandalwood, cigar box and secondary California fruit. It’s not trying to be a bordeaux, but it is very satisfying. A true pleasure.

Subtle but significant difference!

Huge affinity for that 91 SS…first wine I ever paid a Hundy for, and a fav all timer for quite awhile. Would love to try one again!

Oh…and the wine we drank when I proposed!

Had my last bottle of the 1991 about 10 years back. Remember it being very “special”. Have the Napa 1991 and SS 1990 still in celler.
