Trying to win a wine tasting event... Please help

So a few I have on hand with multiples that could fit the bill (and wouldn’t be devasted to open). The Ridge MB is a magnum, so it would probably count for me and my wife’s bottles, likely eliminates that one unless there is a case for having one entry to not split the vote.

Also heard some comments on trying a bold, tannic wine that would clearly stand out from the onslaught of cabs I’m gonna face. Thought young nebbiolo could fit the bill. Through in a CdP for good measure, but not sure about that one.

As kind of an oddball group, I thought about some warm vintage tuscan wine (15s and 17s). These always go over better in these types of groups than “better” vintages like 16 and 19.

Didn’t include any burgundy or bordeaux based on the input above. Can still go acquire some bottles and have time to order from winebid, etc. if needed.

p.s. one bottle above was included as a joke to see if I could get a rise out of anyone haha

Scarecrow or Ornellaia of those.

Man, when’s the game? Ive been following this thread. So invested in your victory, OP! :raised_hands:

June 14! I’ll keep everyone updated!

Looking forward to seeing the results… when I’ve done stuff like this where there is a large diversity of experience and tastes, the huge Aussie or Paso wines tend to do well… after you try 5-10 wines, all the elegant wines get lost by all but the most experienced tasters.

Herman Story, Saxum, Alban, or any huge Shiraz… that would be my recommendation.

I’ve been to a number of grand tasting type events (e.g. wine spectator NY wine experience) where I tasted 50+ wines in a night, including many big Napa cabs and similarly style wines. On multiple occasions Schrader’s To Kalon wines have stood out for the intensity and purity of fruit. Take that for what it’s worth.
