I hosted our guy’s book club this week. Hosting rotates among the twelve of us - you pick the book and provide dinner for the group. I focused on three of my wine “crushes” over time: White Burgundy, 2002 Red Burgundy, 1982 BDX.
The book was Apple in China by Patrick McGee. A great read and highly recommended.

- 2008 Dom Pérignon Champagne - France, Champagne
From magnum. I continue to love the 08 DP. Showing quite well.
- 2015 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Outstanding, and continues to drink very well. - 2017 Coche-Dury Meursault - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
Nice juice as it typically is. But flighted with three studs this was 4th of four for tonight's white burgs. More a flighting issue. - 2019 Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Montrachet - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
From magnum. Very good, and I continue to rate this among the best of the past ten to fifteen vintages. - 2020 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Montrachet - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
I continue to love this vintage. The 2020 is a great Lafon Montrachet.
- 2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
A trio of 2002 DRC - Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, and RSV. All three were in perfect shape, and terrific bottles. For me, the GE was the classiest and most rewarding tonight, just edging out the RSV. The RSV showed as it usually does in 2002 - rich, beautiful and enticing. The Echezeaux was lovely, but didn't have the soul of the other two. Interestingly, most of my tablemates (wine enjoyers but not wine aficionados) primarily rated the Echezeaux as their favorite. - 2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

- 1982 Château Haut-Brion - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
As it usually is, this was stunning and outstanding. - 1982 Château Canon - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Lovely juice, and these ex chateau bottles continue to drink well. - 1982 Château Cos d'Estournel - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
A nice 1982 BDX that has lots of fans. I like it rather than love it, but this bottle was in perfect shape and drank very well. - 1982 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
From magnum. Picture perfect, and these mags are just coming into the prime of their drinking window. Fantastic.
- 1905 D'Oliveiras Madeira Verdelho Reserva - Portugal, Madeira
Fantastic.
