Trade Tasting invite, anything here any good?

I just got an e-mail invite to a trade event that seems to have been organized around the theme of “Wineries with funny names”:

cheapskate * frostwatch * gain bay * gamble family vineyards * jigsaw * j.keverson * line shack * murphy’s law * niner wine estates * pennyfarthing * ransom * riverbench vineyard * snafu * sojourn cellars * stuhlmuller vineyards * ‘tilda * winesmith

Worth driving across town for (remember that means 45 minutes each way here if you are lucky)?

I haven’t heard of any other than Sojourn

I recognize ONE of those, Sojurn. The rest sound like British Colony winery names to me. What is the focus supposed to be?

I know Frostwatch. Bennett Valley…mostly Merlot, maybe Syrah and a Sauv Blanc - all pretty good, IIRC. Who’s the organizer - their distributor?

Anthony Dias Blue…

Heard of Frostwatch…believe it is a Bennett Valley property?

Gamble Family is a an old Napa family if I’m thinking of the right one. Sbragia Family Gamble Ranch Chard, for example? Not sure if this is a brand related to Source-Napa or not, but I think their SB (which I love) comes from the Gamble Ranch?

Winesmith is Clark Smith (of Vinovation and “Spoofulation” fame)'s label.

The rest, other than Sojourn, I have not.

Well, you found it; you HAVE to attend it. Those are the rules.

Frostwatch is Bennett Valley.
I make wine in the same facility that Sojourn does; they are worth trying.
Best, Jim

The event is put on by Anthony Dias Blue’s Blue Lifestyle, who’s awesome.

The wines are from Millenium Wine Group. Really, Really good guys–that’s Cargasacchi’s distributor, actually

Roberto–might even see you there!

P.S. Stuhlmuller Vineyards is on there? Sweet! One of the best Chardonnays I’ve had in a long time!

I say go!

Sarah, Turns out I have a conflict that day anyway so have a good time…

PS: Did you get my e-mail re Pepe?

The Sojourn is worth going to try, nice wines across the board. I haven’t tried any of the others.

I was with this Broker until recently but got picked up by a distributor in So Cal. (French Paradox aka Fourcade & Hecht. )

AP Vin also moved on, though it shows us both on their website still? [bye2.gif] The APVin is now with Direct Wine Marketing in So Cal, which was the original broker Andrew and I started with. (Paris Driggers.)

Gamble Family…but that’s it.

Doesn’t sound like a 1.5 hours drive tasting to me.

FrostWatch make a great Chardonnay.

Dianne something or other owns it with her husband, they came to our offline at Mirepox in summer of 07 and gave us a couple bottles as a gift.
