Tortelloni and Fairplay Sangiovese

Tonight’s light supper was the end of the tortelloni from our cat sitter, moistened with a bit of tomato juice. It was served with freshly grated Parmagiano Reggiano. The sausage-stuffed pasta was very good with a 1999 Fleur de Lys Sangiovese from Fairplay in the Sierra Foothills - a plastic cork; dark ruby garnet in color, with no signs of ten years of age; bright nose & flavors of red & black cherries; a mixed mid-palate of low acidity and simple fruit; with a nice finish of cherry fruit.

Then for dessert we had Ghirardelli Chocolates - milk for Carollee and I had a mild 60% dark with a hint of macadamia. Both were nice with a 1977 Kopke Colheita Port; the woody fruit of the port matched with the chocolates. Enjoyable while watching Iron Chef America with Morimoto winning a fixed match and Ocean’s Eleven (via TiVo).
