It’s that time again. Top Chef season 6 is set to premier August 26th, two weeks from Wednesday. This time they’re in Las Vegas. Names and bios of the cheftestants are on the Bravo website, here. Surprised there is only one cheftestant from NYC, though Trestle on Tenth is known locally as a foodie/wine geek hangout.
Apparently there will be guest appearances from Wolfgang Puck, Todd English, Natalie Portman, Daniel Boulud, Penn & Teller, Hubert Keller, Laurent Tourondel, Tim Love, Michelle Bernstein, Tyler Florence, Charlie Palmer, Paul Bartolotta, Nigella Lawson, and Jerome Bocuse. No Bourdain or Ripert??? Their appearances make all the product placements bearable!
Funny story about them. My mother teaches teachers. Runs a bunch of programs for them. She always takes these groups to see Broadway plays/musicals and when I was younger, she would also take me and my sisters along.
In the '80’s she took us and a group of new teachers to see Penn & Teller during their first Broadway show. She arranged to have us all meet Penn & Teller afterwords and have them address the group. Turns out, Teller used to be a teacher. So, what does he say? He goes off on an angry tirade about the efitty eff kids and having to get up at 6:00 the f o’clock in the morning and this effing thing and that effing thing wrong about teaching.
Really pleasant fellow. Probably a good thing he doesn’t talk during the show.
A little bleh, but it is the first episode of course. The season looks interesting, the cheftestants certainly have personality, if not a bit arrogance.
While Tom pimping for Diet Coke is distressing, the ad is f’ing hilarious by virtue of some of utensils and stuff being parodied are straight from Alinea.
Yes, the chefs seem like a letdown after having watched some amazing masters create some impressive dishes.
But, I think this one could be more entertaining in the personality aspect. Yes, the masters have personality, but unlike the masters they are competing to win for more than just a charity and some of them are willing to do more than others to get it. That’s entertaining for the viewer.
I get used to Kelli, and yes I think her commentary was better, but Padma’s nicer to look at. No, I don’t play for that team, but if I did…
I am not opposed to tatoos seeing as how I have 2 of them myself… BUT, these cats on Top Chef have gone over the top. They all have insane amount of tatoos. It’s almost off-putting…
Gee, let’s see how many anti-Padma comments Yoni can make in this thread. I counted four in the Top Chef Masters one, and she wasn’t even the host! Maybe it’s time to give it a rest, eh? [suicide.gif]
Too early to tell who is going to pull ahead and prove themselves. I do love the Vegas theme though, although they need to extend the show by another hour IMO, so that we can observe all the additional details of cooking, whining, bitching, and judging.
