Top Chef Masters : Season 3

Much better but it pains me to see the gyrations they make these guys go through! Just let them cook. I noticed our local chef from Portland, Naomi Pomeroy, was not tasted in the quickfire and she missed the same event last week because she did not complete the dish in the time allotted. She went on to anchor a winning team in the first episode and almost won the elimination challenge. I suspect she had a similar occurence dealing with an antiquated meat grinder perhaps? Her restaurant (Beast) is terrific and I suppose they don’t want her singled out yet. I think it is fine to deprive them sous vide, foams and liquid nitrogen in these early quirky “Survivor-like” challenges, but give them a good kitchen and basic equipment to do the task at hand and let the best chef win. Mike

Agreed. I will perhaps watch it if I’m around, but I won’t go out of my way.

My sentiments, too.

Only marginally more interesting than NBC’s next restaurant chain show. Almost as bad as Just Desserts.

Very shaky in general and I am quite tired of the minor “celebrities” judging the quickfire. The young singer (who I never heard of but that is my problem) seemed to have a serious attitude towards the chefs. [smileyvault-ban.gif]

So far…not so good. [stirthepothal.gif]

For reference:

I just removed the Season Pass from my DVR.

I WILL however, continue to read Eddie Huang’s review of each episode. Much more entertaining than the actual show!

Kent; Loved his comments about the “celebrity” judge (thanks Poppy [tease.gif] ) as well as his point that Susan should NOT have been eliminated. The conditions in the kitchen were not at all fair and this is supposed to be Top Chef…give them all an equal chance.

Cheers!

I thought Kelis was quite fetching, but the nose ring gave her an unfortunate draft animal vibe.

OK. I love this babe.

Which one of you balloon-popping smarty-clowns is gonna ruin it for me saying she’s a lesbian?

I like this chick too because she is on the national board of Share Our Strength, and the No Kid Hungry campaign. You all know that I’m hooked up w/ that program in Chicago, right? This other guy is competing for No Kid Hungry too.

OK then, there are my pics.

I quite like the way she handles pigs.

I got some pork for her.

+1

I’ve watched both eps back-to-back and it’s very weak. The cinematography is very choppy, and I’m not a fan of the host (he seems to be trying too hard). Finally, the cheftestants are for the most part unknown to me (of course, that may be my problem, but it does seem to be a rampant complaint). The product placement is annoyingly obvious (it seems to be getting worse and worse every season).

Lastly, what’s up with the unibrow?

That was a terrible show. That show sucked. The bug thing was stupid. Now while I have no big love for risotto, bad chocolate pudding should go home faster than fast. The whole concept said that too. “$100 for bad chocolate pudding.” NFW.

What a bad episode. Bugs, cutting off water, no service, really? What is this, Survivor- Kitchen Nightmare style? And how does a well-made but boring risotto lose compared to a gritty, poorly-made pudding? WTF?

And while I’m ranting, I’d like to add that as far as I can tell “Restaurant Girl” hasn’t added squat to the episodes and is not hot enough to really just sit there like eye candy. Kelly Choi or Padma, yes, RG, no.

I’m pretty much done with this show. What a shame, the first seasons were SO good, it was a real pleasure watching the more mature cheftestants use their experience and confidence to really make magic. Now… pepsi

And cutting off the water??? Seriously? That’s a health hazard. What a stupid show. I was so pissed when they brought back unibrow guy. He really seems like a jerk and really can’t look at him without wanting to attack him with tweezers.

Yeah, this show just sucks. Completely agree about the stupidity in sending a perfectly good risotto home instead of flawed chocolate pudding.

Just inane challenges and Hugh’s unibrow is really starting to scare me. I am going to miss Suvir, though. He seems very talented and classy. I loved his fu in the quickfire. You want to kill and eat those bugs? Do it yourself, bitches! That said, unless there’s absolutely nothing on tv, I’m done.

Terrible episode! [bleh.gif] The first rule of any Top Chef show…NEVER EVER make risotto. It will send you home. Also, who is “restaurant girl” and HTH did she get this gig?

Actually, I really liked John and was sorry to see him go. The bad chocolate pudding should have saved him. Overall, I am having difficulty finding any positives about the show.

Maybe…One more episode… deadhorse

Cheers!

Sending home John for perfectly fine rissotto (just boring) over pudding, which to me is boring anyway, but also cooked poorly made ZERO sense to me
