They are airing the reunion show at 10pm, so I’m guessing they hope most of that crowd will stick around. That is awfully late, though.

Wow, that was weak. A TOTAL letdown after Top Chef All Stars. This is not going to be a good season.

I thought so, too. Really weak quickfire. Was surprised Mary Sue didn’t get sent home for her lame, dried out cupcake, but it seems over salting always loses. Those scallops were the size of hockey pucks. He probably should’ve passed on them.

Btw, really stunning the Leela team won given all the mistakes and negative comments from the judges at the time, but that’s what happens when you let newbs make decisions.

Totally agree with Eric and Brad…WEAK all around. I sure hope this season improves but this group of chefs is less than inspiring.

I just finished watching last night’s episode, and nearly turned it off about halfway through. A real yawner.

I thought the same. I will give it one more episode, but if it doesn’t improve I will just skip it.

BTW, Curtis Stone…blech.

While I thought Kelly Choi was useless (though the definition of a ‘spinner’), Aussie dude is going to get annoying in a hurry.

While I like the format change, I wonder if the potential time commitment kept away the top-notch and well-known chefs of the like that we have had in the first two seasons? This bunch is more Top Perennial Food Reality Show Contestant Masters. A season of nothing but Rick Moonen competing against himself would be way more fun.

Moonen was awesome. I would agree that the overall caliber of chefs appears to be WAAAAAY down.

Who said a Top Chef host was supposed to be useful? I said Kelly was hot (love spinners). Padma’s useless too (unless you think that there’s a value in agreeing with Tom), but I like having her around. neener

I don’t care how bad that scallop dish was - if you make cupcakes, you should be thrown off, if you make dry cupcakes, I shouldn’t even have to tell you to go home

Moonen should not only have his own show, he should have his own network. 24/7 Moonen. Moonen and some hot-chick sidekicks - now that’s a recipe for sky-high ratings.

Had dinner with a friend last night who is as close to a professional foodie as it gets. After I bitched about the show, she did (fairly) note that it’s not that the chefs aren’t as good as in the first two seasons but that they simply aren’t as well known - raving first-hand about the talents of two or three of the contestants that I had never heard of. But it would be nice to recognize one or two from something other than other competitive cooking shows.

I saw the Indian dude was on Iron Chef as a judge. I’m beginning to wonder how many of these chefs spend more time on business ventures than in the kitchen.

As for your friend, whether the TCM3 chefs are as talented as in previous seasons may be debatable. What’s not debatable is that these guys are a snoozefest.

100% agree that was a terribly dull episode. I hope this season is better than Top Chef Just Desserts was.

Celina Tio was just a contestant on Next Iron Chef.

Epi2 was a little bit better. Not great.

I had something to do & I just did not care who won…
