YES. My wife refers to it as “smelling like a dirty gym sock.” Earthy, barnyard, funk.
I really have just a top four, as everything else is essentially a case or less.
Patricia Green Cellars is my largest collection at this point.
And then tied for second are:
Goodfellow Family Cellars;
iOTA; and,
JB Neufeld.
All of which can be “blamed” on this wine board and that Berserker Day thingy.
My wife refers to it as “the elephant cage at the zoo”. She’s not a fan, as you might imagine, based on that tasting note
Haha. That is exactly the kind of wine my wife would be thrilled to drink. The first time we interacted with Thatcher she emailed him and said “what red do you have that smells like a gym sock?”

Vastly different. I don’t keep inventory any more but largest holdings are obvious but maybe not in order.

I think Vajra is so under rated. Nearly everything they produce is very good. Even their Barbera d’ Alba is beautiful.
Curious to find out if you like Sandrone, or if you find it a bit over rated, or over priced?
I’ve enjoyed most of the wines from Sandrone I’ve had, in particular 85/88/89/90 but also some later vintages like 01/04, but generally I find them a bit to “polished”. They’ve always been well made though, just not my preferred style.
Don’t sleep on Vajra’s Chinato, either, if (like me) you dig the genre.
Had one of those last year at a wine dinner I hosted and everyone loved it. Including me.

How much wine is in your collection to have a new winery in your top 10?
Thats what i was wondering!
Less than 60 bottles and I’d like to grow it to around 75 (I don’t drink as much wine as some of you guys do haha nor do I have the opportunities to drink bottles on a more consistent basis).
That’s all fine to me and right now, I’ve narrowed down the producers I already really enjoy and the ones I think I’ll love in the future (w/ considerable bottle age).
Plus it’s always nice to be in the know with the brand new, exciting, and amazing producers like Palisades Canyon Wines and MOWE Napa Valley.
I started small and now I am almost at 2K bottles. WB is not the place to be if you want to keep your bottle count low but good for you to scale your collection. Also tells me I may have to stop at Mowe next time through Napa.
That’s how you start walking the path to 3k

While it makes sense, I’m almost surprised how quickly the cellar fills up with wines from the lists I’m on (or was on). I haven’t purchased Torrin in years and it’s still hanging on to the top 10. Myriad fell off my top 10 because the prices went up a lot and I still drink the ones I bought somewhat regularly. I think I may have just purchased my last Ultramarine allocation, but how quickly I drink those depends on how often I open a dud bottle.
An interesting exercise. I have not done it before. Some have been in the cellar awhile, while others are new to the house. Anyway:

I haven’t done this for a while, so it’s interesting to see how things have changed. In order:

Chateau Meyney
Martin Wassmer
Ghislaine Barthod

Back in mid-2021, it was the following. I guess that I am becoming more fussy in my old age,

- Agricole Vallone
- Musar
- Sylvain Pataille
- Seresin
- Puygueraud
- Christian Clerget
