My better half and I are going to a Santa Cruz Mountain winery tasting in Half Moon Bay the evening of July 24, if you’re anywhere near the area. A lot of small producers in the SCM are making great stuff. Might be my latest favorite region.

What was your previous?
Probably anywhere in Sonoma for the variety: Pinot to cabernet to zinfandel. Southern Rhône before that. I’m fickle. It would be easier to adopt my wife’s palate and say whatever she likes is my favorite. Yours?

Tuscany is always near and dear. I do love SCM though!

SCM is a fantastic place for Sangiovese, though there’s not much of it. Ascona Vyd has two rows of it, which has been going to Stagiaire. Martella used to source that, until he retired. Imo, thats the best Sangio site in CA.
I got some from a little home vineyard in Saratoga a couple times. That was fantastic fruit. La Honda gets that now and most likely puts ot in a blend, since it’s only about a half ton.
