I just think that a top ten list of all of California Pinot cannot really be pulled off. Where does the line get crossed and what are favorites stylisticly ? He has three cult wineries listed and one that is way expensive. So, no Dehlinger, Mount Eden, nor Au Bon Climat.
Not sure I would go that far back, but a winery started in 2010 (Sandhi) certainly has too limited a track record for inclusion.

2009: Hobbs, Varner, Dumol and Kistler creep onto the list
2008:Pisoni, Brewer Clifton, Lucia, Roar, Talley, Calera, Foxen, Hobbs, Melville…in 2008 Marcassin had smoke taint, trashed all their pinot
