Too much Pinot?

I visited Willamette for the first time over Labor Day weekend. I knew going in that it was going to be Pinot or bust on the reds - which I consider a feature but I understand why others wouldn’t.

I was surprised how much Gamay I came across, as well as how much I liked it. Tried a tiny bit of Syrah (thank you Marcus Goodfellow!). Really liked that style - definitely on the leaner side.

Huh? [scratch.gif]

There’s some familiar Oregon folks on the list, but I’m guessing that most of the Oregon wineries only poured their basic Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and a white wine. Yes, definitely not the best tasting environment, but probably not the best representation of Oregon Pinot Noir either.
