Put Nov 2 on your calendars. The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals will hear “Family Winemakers of CA v Jenkins,” challenging statute that prevents wineries producing > 30k gallons w/ a MA distributor from direct shipping. Pub…lic may attend. Location: John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Way in Boston. Time: Starts at 9:30. We’ll report here on the room number when it’s assigned.
I see the Clinton’s favorite special prosecutor Ken Starr will be arguing the case for the consumers/wineries. The Jenkins in the case is a political hack on the board of the MA Alcoholic Beverage Control Comission.
Lol #3 of the day. Thanks dude!
Do we get a “Here here” or a “What’s all this then?” or just slapped with contempt of court if we show up to heckle?
That’s only half the battle. Get them to remove winery and shipper culpability for customers exceeding annual shipping limits. Put the culpability on the customers and then wineries and, more importantly, UPS / Fedex, will ship to MA.
We would if we could get a carrier. We’re thinking again about monkeying with a three tier but it’s logistically a pain in the butt and it’s an added cost / step / relationship / reporting requirement / etc.
